Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

I read that review not long ago, it seems LG have really pulled 200Hz out of the bag and it's in some ways better (some ways worse too of course) than the Sony Z4500, which really is something significant considering how much cheaper it is!

Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

This topic seems a bit abandoned these last few weeks...
I was wondering if there are people that own this television already and are willing to share their impressions. That would be great.

Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

Hi all!
I'm new to AVForums.com, but I am fully eager to join the community
I just bought a nice LG 32LH5000 set for sub 700 euros, assembled in Poland. I placed it on the wall and the first impressions are great. I played a 1080p trailer of "Public Enemies" on a .mov container through the USB port and the picture was terrific, the sound was terrific, overall excellent performance. I tried to play a .mkv sample, but the tv reported it not valid, so probably something went wrong in the copying process. I'll get back with more info once I play around with it. Feel free to ask any questions.

that's weird.... are you sure you didn't get the file formats mixed up.... i tries a .mkv on an LH5000 and LH7000 and they looked/worked fantastically, HOWEVER, when i tried a .wmv or a .mov they didn't work at all....

Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

Maybe it depends on the encoding, the bit rate and etc. The trailer was from Apple's website, exported with Quicktime Pro 7.6 (I'm a Mac user) and the .mkv is 1920x816 @ 11004 kbit/s , x264 2-pass. It could be something wrong with my flash drive, because on the Mac it starts.

Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

I haven't tried a 720p res file. Will do tomorrow. The .mov is 1920x800/H.264@9.69 mbits/s, AAC stereo@44,100 kHz

aahhhh, thats right, i read that it supported the h. codecs, my .mov must have been an old one with a dodgy codec. i thought that was weird at the time that it didn't play mine back. when i tried it the 200Hz function seemed to be (stuck) on.... did you find that your movie suffered any 'soap opera' effects?...

Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

If,by "soap opera", you mean the picture sometimes looks like a BBC series indoors shooting, then yes it does, but i don't mind it.

Re: The Official LG LH5000 LCD Thread

Hi! With what cables do you connect the PS? Is it PS2 or PS3? And by digital channel you mean you have a set-top box or you use the in-built dvb-c/t tuner, and again, if it's a set-top box, how do you connect it to the tv? Check also you picture settings! For the last few days I am either experimenting with the advanced settings or the AV mode button on the remote control. It enables you to select pre-defined settings for the picture quality based on application, i.e. - video games, cinema/movies, sprots, etc. Try these tips and "report back"

I have HDMI cables to the screen from my PS3.

About the digital cannel im useing the build in dvb-c/t tuner and I contect with normal attena stick that is also where my normal cable chancels come thru.

I call the shop today and they said it might be that it need to be put to 200Hz since normaly it only starts as 50HZ.

And yes im a big nOOb when it comes to tv

I will revert back later today when im home if I got it to work, because pictures wise (when it dont **** up) is really good.

When I had mine, the TruMotion system was enabled by default on "low", so it should've been the same with yours, unless someone at the shop played with the settings.
