Lg 42lf2500

Hi guys i posted this in the buyers guide thread but it think that's the wrong place to post it so i'm posting it here.

I'm very interested in the LG 42LF2500 which i saw in the latest Argos catalogue , I wanted to see what the reviews for it were like and whether i could get it cheaper else where but upon entering the model number etc in google i got nothing on it for the UK i even went to the LG UK website and it's not even listed at all.

I did however find a link to the German LG site that does have it listed.

the first question i like to ask is, is this TV supported at all by LG UK and therefore will i be able to get help for it should a problem arise as well as firmware updates etc

Second is there a UK model that is the same as this TV spec for spec and would it be better to get that one or is the 42LF2500 perfectly fine, just seems strange that it's listed for sale in Argos yet not listed on the LG UK site is it even a LG ?.

Thanks for answering these questions.

Re: Lg 42lf2500

I think this is a European model. It's listed on the German LG site as you say Google Translate and it might be a special for Argos and a select few stores to sell.
lg 42 lf 2000 günstig online kaufen im Preisvergleich bei Shopping.com. Flachbildfernseher | TV und Video | Elektronik | 5. August 2009 and here is a (what looks like) UK LG6000 series from last year listed as LF2510 Very odd.

Anyway, the specs on the LF2500 seem reasonable enough, bu it does seem it's an import for Argos and it seems like it's based on an older model. It might be an older model (LG3000/LG5000)- last years model in the UK - similar design.
Also, apart from the LF7700, the LF designation is generally no longer used as it is at least two years old, having been succeeded by LG last year and LH this year.

If you want an LG for the UK market, you might be better off with this year's LH2000 or LH3000 series. Bear in mind that the LH2000 is not full HD.

You mean the LH2000 or LH3000?

Re: Lg 42lf2500

Cheers for the reply.. it pretty much answered my questions, I think i will go for the 42" LH3000 series, it seems to be available online for around the same price that Argos were charging for the LF2500.

Re: Lg 42lf2500

I got the 2500 at £499 from Argos, well impressed.

It's a model that doesn't exist according to LG's site, however, a little tweaking is amazing.

The built in calibration settings are excellent, the screen is brilliant, the speakers are good for an lcd but still pretty crappy.

Best thing I've found though, is the tweak for the usb in the service menu means you can play pictures, mp3's and videos straight off a usb device.

Personally, if you can get it for £499 or less, I'd recommend it (price has gone back up at Argos now)

Re: Lg 42lf2500

Hi, I'm also looking at this set.
I'm looking for a good gaming LCD.

I was originally looking at a panisonic, sony or samsung - 37" - 40". With a price of £700 tops. (including warrenty)

But this looks like a great offer, 42" , a fast refresh rate, and full 1080 p....

The only thing that is putting me off is its hard to find reviews, and being in Argos I can't view it. The main duobts I have are:

- its good with onscreen movement? (Its apparently 100hz)
- does it have good blacks?

(Also is it worth buying a warrenty?
or does the shop legally have to fix the tv if it breaks (on its own) within 3 yrs? (I heard it was UK Law)

(The main reason being, by the time I bought this set, and warrenty. It would only cost an aditional £100 to upgrade to a 40" sony, as it has the Sony 3 yr warrenty) Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U 40-inch Widescreen Full HD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Help!
