| Re: LG GT505 - How to i get the browser to use Wi-Fi
Ok, an update from me...and it isn't pretty.
Ive had this issue open with Orange technical support since the 19th.
I have had about 7 conversations with Orange about it since then, each time with assurances that it would be fixed and that it was being or had been raised to the highest level of technical support.
Nearly every time I have either not heard back, or I have received a text message telling me to call back on 150. So nearly every time I have had to go through the menu options and support queue to talk to anyone. But that's not my main gripe.
The last time on Friday (28th) it really sounded like we were getting somewhere. Technical support admitted there was a problem (specifically that there should be a Wifi option under Access Points), and were going to replace the operating system on my phone with either the original LG one, or a modified version of the Orange one. They were also going to try altering the configuration on their servers to give me the missing Wifi Access point option. And they promised to call back. I was cautiously impressed.
This morning (Sunday 30th) I got a text message from Orange. That's right, a text message, not a phone call. It told me to call 150. I did this and as usual wasted my time sitting through the menu options and queue.
Finally I got to speak to someone...and...wait for it...the support issue was closed yesterday by the helpdesk (not technical support) without even contacting me!! Attached to the note was something about where to find wifi in the connectivity menu, which I did in the first five minutes of owning the phone.
I am mad as hell about this. It has now been reopened by the help desk, back at the lowest level, as if nothing has happened since the 19th. I expect nothing to come from it.
I signed the contract for a phone advertised as having Wifi. I do not have a phone with Wifi. Meanwhile Orange is actually benefitting from not fixing this issue by charging me for GPRS use.
I'm off on holiday next week. Before I go Orange are getting a letter from me telling them to fix it by the time I get back or I'm cancelling after 10 years of being a customer.
If they tell me I'm tied into the contract, I'll see them in the small claims court.
Timewasters.
