LG Cookie KP500- Memory Card Not Recognised

LG Cookie KP500- Memory Card Not Recognised
I just got one of these for my wife, it didn't come with a memory card so just tried the 8gb Micro SD card from my Nokia 5800 and it isn't recognised so can't even format it. Googling this, some posts say it doesn't take 8gb, some say it does. The manual also says it supports up to 8gb. Any help please folks?

Would I need to get a new card then? The one I have tried has been used in another phone but the fact I can't even get the LG to recognise it means I can't format it.

Tried formating the card in my Nokia, now works a treat
