Hello everyone just joined the forum its really been useful. bought my LG 32LH2000 on special offer really cheap for all the features it has (and i love gadgets where you have a lot of controls to adjust!

) and the picture quality is very good blacks are very black and whites are startling whites!
The black glossy plastic surround of the TV is a fingerprint magnet but thankfully LG have included a cleaning cloth (although it dont seem to be an anti-static cloth).
It came loaded with Version 3.40 and i couldnt get into service mode to enable USB on the back of the TV for photos/music/video so i downgraded the TV to version 3.15 and enabled the setting in the service menu so I am very, very pleased that its got this added little extra now.
I upgraded back to version 3.40 now so if anyone ever comes across the way to get into service mode with version 3.40 please do give me a shout (OK+OK and Menu+Menu) dont work for me on version 3.40 (and with other people yet so hear) so to get back into the service menus I have to downgrade to 3.15 version every time.
One thing to mention is that I am having a bit of 'fizz' 'Dot Crawl' and pixelling on text menu's arount the writing (say like when you put the SKY+ Tv guide EPG where the menu is highlighted yellow) and some pixellating around the TV Idents - now the strange thing is this only happens through A/V so if am looking through Scart socket or HDMI socket - if I go the old UHF aerial socket way (the sound obviously goes to mono) but the picture is excellant and the word outlines are nice and smooth - this is working the wrong way around as your AV mode should always give better pictures than going through analogue UHF mode!!
Its not an issue with SCART CABLE because I have a really good quality cable with brass connectors. Its not an issue of setting RGB or Interlace composite settings nor stiing to 16.9 or 4.3 Letterbox because I have tried changing settings with no result. However when selecting 4:3 in the zoom settings (with black borders each side) when the Digibox is connected to SCART AV2 then the writing looks a lot clearer and smoother edge, to me that feels like setting the screen to 16:9 somehow enlarges the picture to fill the whole screen but pixellates the text on the screen at the same time.
now onto sound. Well its clear (tinny) there is hardly any thumping bass (which I suppose is expectable at this price of an LCD screen) but why put a cinema mode on the TV and have tinny sound with no rich bass? - If only on these TV's (even these budget ones) they could just put one large subwoofer speaker into the set this could make ton's of difference to the overall sound. Anyway to acheive better sound I plugged in a pair of 2.1 Computer speakers with Subwoofer speaker into the earphone socket of the TV and this makes a fantastic difference to the sound - however a couple of issues come into play here. The impedance of the earphone socket gives out a lower volume than Line Out sockets and when you have headphones or speakers plugged into the headphone socket and try to go to the Audio settings on the TV you cannot change any setttings like bass or treble or clear voice or surround sound its all grayed out with a pop up message "you have wired headphones plugged in" !!! - so why has LG configured it this way say if you did have headphones plugged into the TV set and wanted to change bass/treble and surround sound then it wont let you! - why not I ask myself there is no logical reason behind it.
at this time its best to mention the 32LH2000 has no Line Out sockets on the rear panel whatsoever all its got is optical digital out for a surround sound amp. I suppose you could get one of those SCART adaptors with L+R line out phono sockets and put it into a Full scart socket on the TV (I dont think both scart sockets are Full on this set I think one is full and the other is 'Half' scart socket i.e. not fully wired)
why did I particularly plug my PC speakers into the headphone socket? - well it was so that if I turn the volume up and down using the LG TV remote then it will turn it up and down through the PC speakers.
There doesnt seem to be a SVHS socket on this model just to let you know, however in the service menu (EZ Adjust) you do have a setting to turn SVHS on and off and is default set to off - strange that, it is the first TV set ever I have come across without an SVHS in socket.
My 32LH2000 dont seem to adjust itself in different light situations and in the service menu the "digital eye" is set to off - tried setting it to on but could not see any difference maybe the digital eye hardware isnt built into the set?
Surprising me further LG have put instruction software right there in the menu of the TV itself! and another little surprising thing is the picture wizard in the menu where you can set up the picture with almost all settings you can imagine!
now, lastly onto the SKY+ remote code so you can operate the volume of the 32LH2000 through the SKY+ remote control. Well I couldnt get it to work with my Sky+ remote I had tried all LG codes possible then I took battery cover off the SKY+ remote and found I have revision 6 of the remote and the code isnt in it its only in SKY+ remote version 8! - so thats gonna be another 20 quid I am gonna have to get the new revision 8 Sky+ remote - what a *ummer!
sorry for the long post. If anyone wants more info on this model give me a shout and I will see if i can give you any. Thanks for reading.
Andy.
