Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Having seen the reduced prices on these at DSG's sites, I'm interested in getting either the 19" or 22" LH2000.

I have a few questions on it's spec though please, as retailers and the manufacturer seem to be contradictory.

First off, are the 19 and 22's full 1080p HD sets? It's not really a resolution that concerns me at this size, but the LG site says it's a full HD set.

How many HDMI's do the sets have? Most retailers say 1 on both the 19 and 22, LG say 1 on the 19 and 2 on the 22 and this thread says 2 on both. Which is correct please?

Does the TV definitely have the 24p cinema playback? Again some retailers omit it, some have it as does the LG site.

LG UK Site, 19" LH2000
LG UK Site, 22" LH2000
Currys- 1HDMI, 720p, no mention of 24p
Dabs- 1 HDMI, 720p, Includes 24p cinema

Thanks!

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Bought one of these a few days ago (£80 off in currys summer sale), nice looking set, lovely picture without too much fiddling, loaded with useful features - very pleased so far.

I'm sure you already know by now but the reason for the LG website claiming it to be 1080p was simply because the website was new and was filled with bugs and incorrect specs etc...it's fixed now as far as I can see, I can't see anything which is wrong

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Morning!

Last week Which? announced some comparisons they'd run on the LG LH2000 versus the Sony WE5:
In the current batch of TVs being tested at the Which? lab, the 42-inch LH2000 from LG has received full marks for its green credentials.
The 40-inch Sony WE5, a model marketed as an Eco TV, also fared very well in our power consumption tests and boasts a range of 'Eco' features, but it didn't quite score as well in our energy efficiency tests as its larger, LG counterpart.

Both models typically use around 90 watts when switched on (the Sony model uses slightly more than the LG model), which is around half that of the average 40-inch models tested over the last two years. When set to their highest power saving modes, the energy consumption of the Sony WE5 drops to just over 60 watts, while the LG LH2000 model reduces its power consumption by less than half to around 41 watts.
The full Which? review of the LH2000 will be live on their site from July 17th.

Hey Karl,

It's nigh impossible to give you a hard and fast rule on settings - there's no right or wrong setting, depends on what you watch, where your TV is and what's best for your eyes - it's all in the eye of the beholder.
We have a video about the LG TV settings menu on our channel which might help you, it's best to play around and see what works for you. Good luck!

the HDMI spec is a standard and is backwards compatible with all previous specs, so it looks like you either have a 1.2 cable that doesn't work or a HDMI port that doesn't work. I would check both.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Got an LG 37 LH2000 this week and am having problems locating it's built-in freeview. The manual (both paper and CD) do not mention anything about it despite the box boasting a sticker of having freeview. I have read a few reviews on other televisions that encountered this same problem, is there a quick fix to access the tv's own freeview? I have already done the auto scan for channels but returned just five or so, I am currently using an old bulky freeview box till I sort this.

Thanks.

If only 5 channels this condition may be because of using an indoor aerial which is not giving an adequate signal strength for the in-built tuner. I have this particular model and have had no problems hooked-up with an outdoor aerial pointing to a "back-up" transmitter, it gets all the channels in a quality I expect.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Hi guys,

I would also like to know the sky remote codes, but the main reason I am here is because I have a sound delay problem with my Xbos 360 connected to this TV via HDMI. I have had this TV for about 2 months now, the problem has been there from the start. The sound is about 1/4 of a second behind the picture on my 360. This only affects the 360; other channels are fine. I have tried connecting it via component, I didn't really notice any change, and plus it wouldn't display component in HD. I have tried fiddling with the sound and picture settings on the TV and 360, nothing changed. I reset the settings, and still nothing. I have yet to try a different HDMI cable, although I doubt that is the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Just purchased the 22lh2000 for the wife. Already have 32" in the lounge so decided to go with the same make.

Nice TV, easy to set up.

If anyone is interested, the sky remote control code for this TV is - 1206

The sky website have an area where you type in teh make and model and it tells you a few codes to try.

Hi

According to Pixmania:

LG 32LH2000 LCD TELEVISION review cheap prices 32LH2000 LCD TELEVISION LG best buy discount online uk shop

this tv has a built in HD Freeview tuner. I understand the phrase "HD freeview tuner" as a tuner that will be able to decode the new freeview HD service that will go live from Crystal Palace in Dec this year.

BBC - BBC Internet Blog: What's happening with Freeview HD?

Crystal Palace transmitting station - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is utter B****cks isn't. This tv doesn't have a HD tuner does it??

As far as i'm aware no TV (LG or otherwise) available on the market today has an MPEG4 DVB-T2 tuner built in.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

purchased the LG 32LH2000 about 27 days ago and last night i noticed black lines along the egdes of the screen, the top bottom and right side, only a few mm wide. doesnt really seem to be one on the left side. tried changing the image size, ie 16:9, 4:3 etc, tried them all but lines still remain. Is this normal or should the image stretch across the full left of the screen.

could someone check theres to see if its normal.

i also checked my 37 inch sammy this morning and it seems to have a black line at all 4 sides of the screen, only a couple of mm in width. so is this normal to have on my LG.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

A couple of questions regarding the 32 Inch version of the LG LH2000 and LG LH3000 models.

1. Is the LG 32LH2000 identical to the American version LG 32LH20 ? Checking the UK LG website it states in the panel specifications that the television uses an eight bit panel ( S-IPS technology), but the American reviews state their panel is a ten bit version. Are they using a newer generation panel ?

2. Does anyone know which panels and technology are used in the LG 32LH2000 ((A)S-IPS 8 Bit Panel ?) and LG 32LH3000 (H-IPS 10 bit Panel?), as I can't find details on the panel used on the LG website Welcome to LG Display .

Any help would be appreciated

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

I thought that the LH2000 and LH20 were the same but the LH20 being the US model, the slight variation in specs might be down to something else, or maybe just a mistake?

I don't know exactly which panel is used, it is IPS based but I can't remember the exact panel type, and can't remember where I found out before!

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

My two day old LG 22LH2000 is suffering from backlight bleed on the top and bottom horizontal, about an inch wide (fading to dark).

Is this to be expected from cheap LCD sets in general, something that curses LG sets, or a fault that I should get swapped out?

I've left the set switched on today to see if it goes with use, but I'm sceptical.

Should I send it back and ask for a replacement, or find an alternative make?

Many thanks.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Backlight bleed is a common LCD problem on the whole, especially on the smaller sets where lower quality panels are often used. If it disrupts your normal viewing then you have a case to phone the store and get a replacement, you wont be any more or less likely to get the same problem on a TV from another brand though, especially on smaller TVs where the things which cause backlight bleed are often the same or very similar.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

i bought an LG 32LH20R a week ago and i was thrilled to find out that i can enable the USB service port so i can play movies from a USB flash drive. the problem is, i am unable to find the service menu, or the firmware version. does anyone know the key combinations to make the service menu appear? mine is the asian version i think (since i bought it in manila).
thanks for any help.

Re: The Official LG LH2000 LCD Thread

Hello everyone just joined the forum its really been useful. bought my LG 32LH2000 on special offer really cheap for all the features it has (and i love gadgets where you have a lot of controls to adjust! ) and the picture quality is very good blacks are very black and whites are startling whites!
The black glossy plastic surround of the TV is a fingerprint magnet but thankfully LG have included a cleaning cloth (although it dont seem to be an anti-static cloth).

It came loaded with Version 3.40 and i couldnt get into service mode to enable USB on the back of the TV for photos/music/video so i downgraded the TV to version 3.15 and enabled the setting in the service menu so I am very, very pleased that its got this added little extra now.

I upgraded back to version 3.40 now so if anyone ever comes across the way to get into service mode with version 3.40 please do give me a shout (OK+OK and Menu+Menu) dont work for me on version 3.40 (and with other people yet so hear) so to get back into the service menus I have to downgrade to 3.15 version every time.

One thing to mention is that I am having a bit of 'fizz' 'Dot Crawl' and pixelling on text menu's arount the writing (say like when you put the SKY+ Tv guide EPG where the menu is highlighted yellow) and some pixellating around the TV Idents - now the strange thing is this only happens through A/V so if am looking through Scart socket or HDMI socket - if I go the old UHF aerial socket way (the sound obviously goes to mono) but the picture is excellant and the word outlines are nice and smooth - this is working the wrong way around as your AV mode should always give better pictures than going through analogue UHF mode!!

Its not an issue with SCART CABLE because I have a really good quality cable with brass connectors. Its not an issue of setting RGB or Interlace composite settings nor stiing to 16.9 or 4.3 Letterbox because I have tried changing settings with no result. However when selecting 4:3 in the zoom settings (with black borders each side) when the Digibox is connected to SCART AV2 then the writing looks a lot clearer and smoother edge, to me that feels like setting the screen to 16:9 somehow enlarges the picture to fill the whole screen but pixellates the text on the screen at the same time.

now onto sound. Well its clear (tinny) there is hardly any thumping bass (which I suppose is expectable at this price of an LCD screen) but why put a cinema mode on the TV and have tinny sound with no rich bass? - If only on these TV's (even these budget ones) they could just put one large subwoofer speaker into the set this could make ton's of difference to the overall sound. Anyway to acheive better sound I plugged in a pair of 2.1 Computer speakers with Subwoofer speaker into the earphone socket of the TV and this makes a fantastic difference to the sound - however a couple of issues come into play here. The impedance of the earphone socket gives out a lower volume than Line Out sockets and when you have headphones or speakers plugged into the headphone socket and try to go to the Audio settings on the TV you cannot change any setttings like bass or treble or clear voice or surround sound its all grayed out with a pop up message "you have wired headphones plugged in" !!! - so why has LG configured it this way say if you did have headphones plugged into the TV set and wanted to change bass/treble and surround sound then it wont let you! - why not I ask myself there is no logical reason behind it.

at this time its best to mention the 32LH2000 has no Line Out sockets on the rear panel whatsoever all its got is optical digital out for a surround sound amp. I suppose you could get one of those SCART adaptors with L+R line out phono sockets and put it into a Full scart socket on the TV (I dont think both scart sockets are Full on this set I think one is full and the other is 'Half' scart socket i.e. not fully wired)

why did I particularly plug my PC speakers into the headphone socket? - well it was so that if I turn the volume up and down using the LG TV remote then it will turn it up and down through the PC speakers.

There doesnt seem to be a SVHS socket on this model just to let you know, however in the service menu (EZ Adjust) you do have a setting to turn SVHS on and off and is default set to off - strange that, it is the first TV set ever I have come across without an SVHS in socket.

My 32LH2000 dont seem to adjust itself in different light situations and in the service menu the "digital eye" is set to off - tried setting it to on but could not see any difference maybe the digital eye hardware isnt built into the set?

Surprising me further LG have put instruction software right there in the menu of the TV itself! and another little surprising thing is the picture wizard in the menu where you can set up the picture with almost all settings you can imagine!

now, lastly onto the SKY+ remote code so you can operate the volume of the 32LH2000 through the SKY+ remote control. Well I couldnt get it to work with my Sky+ remote I had tried all LG codes possible then I took battery cover off the SKY+ remote and found I have revision 6 of the remote and the code isnt in it its only in SKY+ remote version 8! - so thats gonna be another 20 quid I am gonna have to get the new revision 8 Sky+ remote - what a *ummer!

sorry for the long post. If anyone wants more info on this model give me a shout and I will see if i can give you any. Thanks for reading.

Andy.
