37LH3000 price.....NOT very happy!!!

Just bought a 37" LG LH3000 television from Comet yesterday.

Comet price? £499.95

Very happy with the television until a friend of mine told me he had been in Asda the same day and seen the identical television for £397.00!!

I couldn't believe it until I went on Asda's website and saw for myself. To say I am angry mad is an understatement. £103 less is a heck of a difference.

I'm off down to Comet tomorrow to see what they have to say.

True....and I usually do! But I was somewhat 'restricted' on this occasion having received vouchers from work which could only be used at certain stores. Argos and Comet were the main two electrical dealers so i'd been making prices comparisons there (the prices are identical).

However, I thought it's worth going to back to Comet to see what they say. After all, if you don't ask you don't get.

And I got a result!

Immediately I showed the print out of Asda's price to a lady at Comets reception desk she just said, "oh yes, a price match.....we will refund the difference".

So thanks Comet.

That is a good deal!

Not sure about the blurring of the names, there shouldn’t be any blurring on the names after you’ve stopped scrolling, I have a feeling that the PS3 does something which is kind of similar though…I’ll check when I can get on mine (although I don’t have an LH3000), but at the moment it’s being a bit ‘obtuse’ and I’m backing everything up in case it dies

Good to hear you like the TV though, and it’s always nice to hear a thanks

Good to hear they fixed it up for you, so now you can be sure you got the best price and you can enjoy the TV

Hello again,

I have finally managed to resolve my problem (#997 from part 1 of this thread) myself - and it was actually pretty simple! All I needed was a DVI/HDMI adapter. Nvidia then automatically detected the screen and all was good.

It still remains a mystery why it did not work directly from the HDMI port - the only thing I can think of is that the HDMI does not appear to be directly mounted on the graphics card and so did not look for it/see it.

Right, now I can finally enjoy this thing...

I have had my tv for about a week now, its a good tv nice bright colours and good sound. The only problem is I am still a little disapointed with the picture quality. I am using sky+ but not hd. I have changed the scart cables to better quality ones, but is there any other way of improving the picture? Even the dvd quality isnt brilliant ( i am using a sharp home cinema system ht-cn400dv), are there any optimum settings I should try, I have turned down the sharpness which helpped. I have also read about upscaling but am unsure about this as its all new to me. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance

On a similar note to the previous thread, I've just seen among the Amazon reviews that the USB on this TV can be enabled so that movies can be played. But someone has commented "Are you sure you haven't got the LH4000?", and the specs say "JPEG and MP3 via USB".

I would like a model that can play HD movies (DivX?) because I can't afford a Blu-Ray player.

I hope I can be forgiven for not reading through the whole of Part I of this thread.

I have been looking for a large LCD for a good few months and as with most major purchases I review and research endless options (to the huge frustration of the wife ., . . . and in this case me too!)

I was hooked on the lg47 lh3000 and was looking to get it from Amazon - but now this new issue of the panel has arisen and there being motion blurring when gaming ( I want to use it for Xbox360) I am faced with do I or don't I??????? I also intend poutting Sky (Standard) and a Blu Ray player plus a Wii for the kids.

I'm looking for advice/guidance on is the 47" version also built with the new panel????

Does it now make it a poor TV??

Is there a chance we will have an AVForums reviewed review with the new parts being used.

I was determined to buy it but left it (mainly to save up more wonga!!!) but am now a little relieved I didn't use the old plastic that won't live up to the early promising reviews!!

HELP!!!

Hi

I've just downloaded a music vid which turns out to be a .mkv file. How do you run it on your TV? My dvd is an LG DRT389H and will play almost any file type thrown at it except .mkv, but to burn .mkv to disc I had to convert it to avi. I still have the original .mkv file as I made a copy to use for conversion.

I'm using Nero 7 full version which won't burn .mkv

I doubt we’ll see a review of it with the new panel on this forum, the new models will be out soon…would it be worth waiting for those? I wouldn’t expect the low-ish end models will be here any later than the end of April going by the estimated dates of some of the higher end models, and you could well end up with a better panel and a better overall TV!

Ignore all these stupid comments about a new panel! LG is a big brand and i doubt they would risk their reputation in installing a weak panel. I play PS3 on my LH3000 32" which i bought !2 WEEKS AGO! and its awesome! i dont spot any blur or anything silly like that and i bloody sit 2 feet away lol

I output all my games in full 1080p and boy do they look nice! the amount of detail in 1080p is truly HD lol

There is a LG sales rep on these forums, PM him if you have concerns.

Thanks dude
I am tempted to go for it and ignore the points about the new panel, but as for most people it is a big purchase and it's one I want to get right! The first time! Most of the other TV's I look at also have negative aspects what would be great is if I could go into my local Curry's or other reputable retailer and try stuff out link the Xbox up to it fiddle with the remote!!

Will keep you posted, but if anyone else has bought the 47" in the last few weeks/months would really appreciate your comments.

I got my 37 lh3000 last weekend after seeing it for £397 on Asda - popped down to my local store... same price in store - beats Currys price of £525

Very pleased with the TV, and also done the USB hack and works a treat !

One thing i can't work out - i've got HDMI output on my laptop, which looks great at 720, but not when use 1080 - the tv screen screws up big time...

... Anyone else had this problem running full hd off a laptop / computer?

Very pleased with TV overall

Ignore all these stupid comments about a new panel! LG is a big brand and i doubt they would risk their reputation in installing a weak panel. I play PS3 on my LH3000 32" which i bought !2 WEEKS AGO! and its awesome! i dont spot any blur or anything silly like that and i bloody sit 2 feet away lol

I output all my games in full 1080p and boy do they look nice! the amount of detail in 1080p is truly HD lol

There is a LG sales rep on these forums, PM him if you have concerns.

Thanks dude

Just bought this TV for the bedroom. It's being delivered on friday. It seems to have good reviews and I already have a 42" LG LCD in my living room which I love so I thought I would give LG a try again. Hope I like it.

Hi all

after much deliberation I picked up a 42LH3000 at the weekend from Currys in Poole. They price matched and beat the price at richer sounds so I got it for £496.

Looks very nice but still awaiting a new living room media unit!!

Cheers

Ed

mate, it;s there, you need to go into certain games like it, go into modern warfare 2 on the map rundown and in the buildings you notice the dark objects bluring all over the place over the white walls. LG have for sure changed there panels and for this im never going to get another product from them again, i thought it was so stupid of them to cut costs by doing this, and making a good TV that had good reception, into a poor one, all you need is to be good with google and you find out these things. I also put a link here where there is proof so i dont know how i can get it round peoples heads really.
DO NOT TRUST LG!
