Smile I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

Hi,

I hope someone can help me.
I know nothing about the new LCD TVs and would like some advice from you guys.

I have 14" colour TV in my bedroom which is wait for it!

17yrs old, and the tube is failing. I would like to buy a LCD TV with inbuilt DVD player and Freeview can somebody recommend a couple for me to test out?

I am willing to spend anything between £100 - £250.

Thanks

Jazz

Aria seem to have a decent range of these. Here's a 19" version, with DVD, Freeview and DIVX built right in for £150:

Re: I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

Got a Toshiba 22DV555 delivered this morning. Decided on this based on the name and the style. Ordered through Amazon (and took only a few days despite stated 1-2 month delivery), but similar price currently available from Empire Direct 9can also use code ET1697 for 2% discount)
Will post comments regarding quality asap but need to put new aerial feed into the bedroom first.

Hi,

How much did you pay for it?
Also does it come with a built in DVD player and Freeview?

Cheers

Re: I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

I paid £277 and yes it does have freeview and built-in DVD. Noting your budget a 19" version is also available.
I also considered the Ferguson 2202LVD (Comet exclusive) which was a similar price but preferred to style of the Toshiba (Comet also sell the Toshiba but it is nearly £100 more).

Cheaper products are available but I wanted the confidence of buying a known brand making the assumption that quality should be better.

Also want to be able to wall mount which isn't always possible with small screen sets.

Re: I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

Hi,

I don't know much about LCD TVs compaired to you guys so please be gentle with me.

Does the Toshiba 19DV555DB or the 22" come with a built in aerial?

As the TV is for my bedroom, and I won't be listening at loud volumes, how would you rate it's sound quality?

Thanks

Jazz

Re: I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

Hi,
I am looking at getting a TV/DVD with Digital tuner for the kids bedroom and was wondering if anybody knew if there was a multi region hack for this set or if anyone knows of a similar set which does have multi region functionality

Cheers

Re: I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

Only had a quick look at the Toshiba last night (as previously stated need to put an aerial feed into the bedroom).

IMO the sound and picture quality were more that adequate for a set of this size and for the intended usage. The freeview signal I gave the set was only reading 8% and yet the picture on the main channels was fine.

Sorry but no internal aerial, you can obviously buy a small set top aerial but unless you live right next to the transmitter believe freeview signal will be poor (have no experience of boosted set top aerials).

Also can't help about the region hack, best option might be a portable DVD player linked to a TV since these often have multiregion capability.

Re: I Need an LCD With built in DVD Player for my bedroom

My daughter is also looking for TV for her bedroom with an inbuilt dvd. Amazon now have the Tosiba 19DV55DB for £199. Is this a good tv for the price. There are a lot of lesser known makes around, most are probably the same with a different badge. Am I better off going for the Tosh.
Thanks

Sorry just realised it was the 22" that you paid £277 for. Still £199 for a 19" seems good.
Anybody any experience of the 19"?

I got a 22inch Matsui [M22LID709] with built in dvd and freeview out of currys for £199, perfectly happy with it so far, you can go for smaller screens that are a bit cheaper.

Have an 18 year old 14 inch in another room still goin well though text doesn't work anymore
