Toshiba 32C3030 - Problem with Home Theatre System

I have a Toshiba 32C3030 TV and have just bought a Sony DAV-DZ260 DVD home threatre system but I cant seem to connect it via a HDMI cable. When I do this the set up screen does not appear on screen. I can however use it when its connected via a scart lead? Do I need to change the settings on the TV? Also would it matter what HDMI socket I plug the home theatre into as there is 2 HDMI sockets.

Cheers..

Read page 22 of the manual it suggests a sequence of events. "To select the type of Video signal"
