Please help me! Samsung Firmware Update Broke My TV!

Hi everyone. I'm really hoping someone can help me out before I have to call Samsung. Basically I have a Samsung LE40A559P4F 40" LCD. I recently updated to the latest firmware on Samsung's website which worked fine however I had issues with the picture quality. Tonight I decided to revert back to the older 007 firmware which seems to work the best on my set (I have tried the others too) Everything worked as normal except right at the end it froze and the bar didn't move after about 98%. I waited for over an hour but nothing happened. As per Samsung's instructions I unplugged the power cord and left it for a minute and then plugged it back in again.

The set now powers on but with no sound or picture. I have repeated the firmware upgrade process (obvisouly without being able to see anything) and followed all the steps in the Samsung online instructions but nothing seems to work.

Please can anyone help at all?

Hi either with tv on press and hold info button on remote for at least ten seconds. This should then ask you to confirm you wish to restore factory defaults. choose yes.

If not, press the power button on remote to turn tv into standby mode. Then press in sequence info, menu, mute, power when the tv turns on it should be in the engineer menu. then try a factory reset. Hope these help. Failing this it may need a new main pcb. Easy to replace if you have a little nouse. Samsungs are easy to remove the rear cover then there'll be a few leads to disconnect and a few screws to undo to replace pcb.
Good luck either way!

Thanks for the advice but neither of those worked. As I can't see anything at all on the screen can you tell me what other key presses I would make to do a factory reset from the service menu?

What's a main pcb? (sorry for being thick) Sounds serious.

Hi

PCB = Printed Circuit Board. Strongly recommend you call in a TV repair engineer.

In the firmware update page at Sammy site theres a how to pdf for firmwares and it lists a method of pressing the source button on the tv whilst pressing the on button on the remote, whilst tv is in standby....

Re: Please help me! Samsung Firmware Update Broke My TV!

Well have booked it with Samsung now. They seemed quite helpful but had no idea what the problem was. Anyone had any experience of dealing with Samsung and know how long they might take and if they might fix it on sight?
