Thanks: Gave 0, Got 0 | Clicking/switching sound from back of Sony LCD?
Just got a Sony 46W4500. When the TV is switched on, I notice a clicking sound from the back, almost like it is switching between settings ( though nothing changes on the screen). It is not a creaking - plastic warnming up sound, it's definitely internal clicking. It stops after a 30 seconds or so.
Is this normal?

Hi,
I've got a Sony 40W4500, and I have the same problem. It happens when I turn it off and when I turn it on. Sometimes it happens while I'm watching it. The sounds are like little clicks.
I thinks this is not normal. Could anyone who owns this TV test it? (if you put the volume to min it may help to heard the clicks).
Thank you very much.

Have the same with my 40W4000.
Not sure if it is a fault?

Hello again,
my LCD does several clicks (about ten more or less) when I turn it on or off.
And sometimes while I'm watching it sometimes I hear one of those clicks.
Is the same behaviour as your TVs?
Thanks.

Thank you very much Deano.
I'm not sure if this can be a fault or the normal behaviour. Does anyone (apart from Deano, Jatt and Latent, who suffer the same problem than me) tell us something about their TV's concerning this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. | the clicks will normally happen when changing to different inputs IE: VGA input or hdmi 1 it all depends on on what source your watching if you have power save on or light sensor then the TV will reduce voltage to save power, also depends on your settings if you have hdmi 1 set to up with backlight full IE:10 then the TV will use more power but if you changed back to say rgb input which you have sky connected and your backlight was set to 5 then you will hear a click this is that voltage change nothing to worry about

Hi Jack,
in my case I hear sporadic clicks not only when I'm changing to different inputs, but also when I'm watching a DVD movie (DVD player connected to AV2 by SCART) or when I'm watching the normal TV.
I have power saving off, and light sensor off.
Thank you.

Thank you. | forgot to mention when watching a DVD you will have dark scenes and lights scenes, in dark scenes the back lights voltage would be reduced as the backlight is not at full voltage hence the clicks

Hi again Jack,
if I have the TV volume not too loud, I can hear these noises (some clicks one behind the other) from 3 meters away. Is that normal?.

Numerous people have said it is a normal thing but you seem to want it to be a problem.
If you still think it is a fault then please phone Sony.
