Samsung LE37A457 cutting the picture off??

I have just bought the Samsung LE37A457 from JL and when watching a film on TV yesterday I noticed that the credits which were aligned to the far left/right of the screen were being cut off so only half of the word was coming up.

is there a simple solution to this problem. I've tried flicking between widescreen, 4:3, zoom etc but it's made no difference at all. I am watchin through a normal virgin box.

thanks

Re: Samsung LE37A457 cutting the picture off??

Have you set the Virgin box to 16:9? Can you also set it to RGB etc.
Hopefully you are also using a quality Scart cable although that should not affect where the picture sits.

My only options for display format on the virgin box are 4:3 normal, 4:3 letterbox and widescreen.
I can set it to RGB, what difference does that make?

Re: Samsung LE37A457 cutting the picture off??

Then you want Widescreen.
RGB gives a better picture as the three primary TV colours are sent individually your options are.
RGB or it is Composite which is the worse format known to man.
In the pecking order top to bottom of the league, it is.
HDMI
Component progressive
Component
SCART set to RGB
S-Video
Scart and Composite.
