So in a nutshell is this tv worth considering as an all rounder?Looking for it to perform particular well with Blu Ray & gaming, would like sd signals to be pretty impressive also.

Any feedback would be much appreciated, as also considering 656 & sony KDL40W4500.

Thanks in advance.

I had a bunch of people over last night playing rock band on a 9-series (which is basically the same TV) and none of them complained about input lag. I haven't noticed to much lag on this set anyway, but I guess it's a personal preference. I'm also playing other games just fine, which requires some koordination (Mirrors Edge, Fallout 3 etc.). Just remeber to use the game mode or set HDMI2 to PC mode and the input lag will be reduced to about 30ms or so.

Also, in my opinion the viewing angle debate is hyped, as most normal people won't notice. I guess this is a "problem" for the enthusiasts looking for the best picture. I can see the PQ getting slightly worse at a certain angle (45 degrees in my eyes), but it's still better than most other TV's.

This is a great TV for most uses.

My 2 cents.

proturbo,

Thanks for the reply, still considering the Tv but this is the review that has got me back-tracking a little Samsung LE40A786 Review.
Section relating to input lag has given rise to me having doubts, which is why I was after some feedback from users/owners.

What did you have before (& how does it compare regarding if applicable)?

Thanks,

eatstatic

Mate, I had an Sammy LE46f86 before thus tv, and the 'Lag' is no different. I do not seem to get any. I play cod 4 and games like that on both 360 and ps3. I would not let the reviews stop you from buying a great tv.

I had a Sony Bravia 40" LCD, which is supposed to be quite good on input lag.

I can't say I'm a hardcore gamer. I'm playing xbox now and then and I prefer single player games. The LED is doing a great job both for my type of gaming and normal TV/movies. My primary input source is through a HTPC running VMC. The PQ is awesome. I notice much higher input lag on the HTPC using the mouse, than through the Xbox in PC mode. The xbox controller is not as precise as a mouse, and maybe that also makes the lag not that noticable.

Before I got the new 9-series, I thought that the Sony was an excellent set. When I am looking at it now, I think it looks awful compared to the LED. The dark areas in the picture are basically gray.

Hello guys!

can anyone explain me what are the differences between 786 and 789? I've an offer for a 40LEA789 for ~1400 euros, and I need to know if it deserves this bag of money

Thanks in advance...

Hi,
I don't think that there is a difference, the 789 is sold in Europe and the 786 is the UK model.that's about it as far as I can see.

Here here, Input Lag is a load of old [Moderator comment: word removed, Circumventing the swear filter]

The TV is spot on, dont even think about input lag.

Just Buy it.

Picture is mint, sound is mint (for a flatscreen). Looks awsome in any room!

Let us know what deal you can get, best price i've found is with Highwayhifi £925, but am getting John Lewis to try and price-match and therefore hopefully get it delivered free with 5 years warranty.

Hi everyone, first time poster here. I just got into the "video world"(yes i am a n00b).

anywayz

Could any 46er owner tell what is the nearest you can get to the t.v before you start noticing pixelation on SD material. I am consiedring LE46a786. I will NOT be more than 8ft from the tv. Will be doing 60% SD(freesat) and 40% HD(PS3). i went through whole part 1 and 2 of this thread. Only thing not sure now is about the "practical min. viewing distance" for SD. So i am looking for personal preferance distance. Any suggestions and replies are welcome.
many thanks.

(my english is not good took 10 mins to type still apologies if any mistake or not clear.)

Best price (in stock) around my way is £864.12 delivered but only 1 yr warranty. That is from Dixons after using codes.

Enter FEB2 at check-out for 2% Off, then DELTV for Free Delivery

re: Samsung LE-A78x SERIES LED *Part 2*

Hi, I have had my HD box box delivered and WOW I can notice a difference, even the SD pictures are better with the HDMI cable. A couple of issues;

How do you get 4:3 programmes to automatically auto-switch in "Just Scan" mode?

Also my "HDMI Black Level" is grayed out so I have no access to it? Any advice.

Thanks.

Hi Mate, I have that version, I have sky sd at the moment and depending on what channel you watch the situation varies. From about 4 ft the sd material is not that great to be honest, once you get to the 8-10ft range I would say that the quality is nearing that of my trusty sony 32" Wega screen. So pretty good. With HD though I sit 3 ft from the screen, especially when playing on my xbox and see no pixelation on hd material. It is the Nuts...

Only one thing left to say, go get it man.

Might be worth asking the first question in the SKY+HD forum
