Re: Samsung LE-A656 FULL HD 100Hz(50.000:1 CONTRAST,USB,6ms RESPONSE TIME) *Part 2*

Got this TV about a week ago. EXCELLENT - except, weird effect on peoples faces (not during fast movement). Faces sometimes seem to detach from the person and move around ever so slightly, making them blurred with a "liquid" effect. This doesn't seem to apply to other parts of the image only the face - strange.

I've searched this and the previous thread (and I've read most of the previous thread over the last few months ).

Before anyone asks - yes all "enhancements" are off, the set is calibrated (with the HDTVTEST settings, which seem fine for my set), I've installed the latest firmware. This problem occurs on HD, BBC-HD & ITV-HD as well as SD.

I'm using a HTPC with a HD4550 graphics card to drive the display. Could this be deinterlacing problems, which is carried out by the PC?

Re: Samsung LE-A656 FULL HD 100Hz(50.000:1 CONTRAST,USB,6ms RESPONSE TIME) *Part 2*

After +/- 1 day of use i just got this to say :

What a brilliant TV! HD Movies the quality is like perfect 100000x better then cinema.. im loving it..

The only thing i dislike is que sound quality that isnt the best but that can be solved by buying a home cinema kit.

Now 2 questions :

1st : Its possible to see movies via usb of the tv?

2nd : how can i see the firmware the tv has to see if i need to update it? is it worth to make the update of the tv?

thankz and if u are thinking in buying this tv dont worry its very very good!

Re: Samsung LE-A656 FULL HD 100Hz(50.000:1 CONTRAST,USB,6ms RESPONSE TIME) *Part 2*

1. No, just Pictures and music

2. you have to go to the service menu, but beware, doing this will reset ALL your settings you may have made on any inputs (colour, contrast, brightness, detailed settings etc etc), and you will have to do them all again once you have checked the firmware. If you want to see current firmware then -
Put TV on standby, then press info, menu, mute, power. you will then see the SM screen

then locate the following on that first screen

T-PRLPEUS - 1002.0
T-PRLPEUMD - 1019.0
T-PERLDEUC - 1011.0

your current loaded firmware will be the middle number (shown in bold above)

DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING WHILST IN THIS SCREEN to exit service menu just turn your tv off and back on again

Quick question - When I enter the service menu on my set it shows for a few seconds before turning off, how do you get it to remain on the menu?

I know this seems stupid, but does any of yours tv take a good 5-10 seconds to turn on, Im almost sure it turned on straight away when I bought it , but then after updating fw it takes longer, I think!!!.
I could be wrong though

Why on the topic writes 6ms response time?It must be 4ms.

HTML Code:

to see if can st up the tv properly as currently my blacks look good but the whites just dont seem to work for me at all atm.

Akenny01 mine takes a couple of seconds to turn on as well,id say its part of the normal opp as every samsung tv have turned on and off in the shops seems to do this as well.

Take a look here. I used the exact settings except for the main colour, which I have set to 49 on HD (I found the colour at 52 was a little over the top "glowing reds" for me).

BTW I've cured my funny floating/bluring face effect. I now let the graphics card in the computer do the de-interlacing and all is crystal clear.

Re: Samsung LE-A656 FULL HD 100Hz(50.000:1 CONTRAST,USB,6ms RESPONSE TIME) *Part 2*

I've got a problem with my 32" model.. When I watch a 24p blu-ray on my PS3 with 24p turned on I get telecine jutter.. A hickup every second or so.

This is weird since this display should play 24p normally right?

[edit: it's stil there.... .. Small hick-ups. that aren't there in 60hz.

You could try being on a different input before you enter the SM, as moments after you enter the SM, it plays the input mode in the background.

Does your 32" have 100hz?

I don't think 100hz and 24p co-operate very well. On my 52", 100hz works better with 24p switched off and vice versa.

The 32" model does not have 100Hz technology - Samsung LE32A656 / LE32A656A / LE32A656A1 Review - but according to this review, should handle 24p without judder/jitter. Does it occur on all of your blu-ray movies?

Does it have movie plus or something similar?
