Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

As I posted elsewhere these are being made in the UK in the last week of November so expect them in the shops first week of December. I understand that the numbers will be very limited.

The "list" price is going to be £100 more than the RV555 models.

Actual price?????

Chris

All info from Toshiba

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

what price do you mean chris, £100 more than when the xv555 were released or their current price?

Can you give me a price that places like amazon/play will likely be charging in ££.

btw, topic title says 42ZV555D twice, did you mean to write 47 or 46 or something for 1 of them?

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

I don't know what I mean unfortunately. I had a conversation about the ZV555 with a Toshiba technical guy at a recent audio visual show. I was actually asking about the picture frame ones - which he said would be next year sometime - but he volunteered the information about the ZV555 which he called the ZV555 DB.

What he told me was that they were schedules for production over 3 days in the last week of November & that it would then take about a week for them to be in the shops. When asked about the price he said they had kept it simple & that they would be £100 retail more than the RV555 which he showed me as looking the same. He also said that they would be in very limited supply. This does make me wonder who will get them & to what extent they will be discounted. It is not Toshiba who fix final selling prices but the dealers themselves. He actually wrote "+£100 from RV range" in my catalogue.

I think that we will all need to wait & see for the fine detail but he said that the production dates were fixed and gave me the actual dates. 24/25/26 November.

I didn't ask which sizes would be produced although he indicated 37, 42 & 46.

I would also say that I will believe the hype about these when I have seen one. Until then I remain healthily sceptical.

Chris

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

Anybody heard any more about these ZV models, confirmed release dates/pricing? I've not heard back from my contact at Toshiba yet so will try him again tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna bite the bullet and get one when they come out - It's either one of these or a Panasonic 42PZ80 plasma and I'm pretty certain that even though this Toshiba model isnt Picture Frame it's still gonna be smaller than the plassy (In my eyes small is beautiful - no comments eh guys )

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

It was my understanding that it would look the same & measure the same as the RV555.

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

Hi,

With the sudden withdrawal of the ZF575's by Toshiba (was any explanation given why) I am beginning to wonder if these ZV555 models are basically just stop-gap/interim models until they are again ready to launch the new picture frame sets - they withdrew them pretty much around the time they were to introduced and I am guessing that they probably did so as they feel the ZF575's would be able to compete better if they had LED-BL and hence the delay.

I am only guessing of course, but I hope that is the case as it is a considerable delay - either way I wonder when next year they may surface?

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

I was told that the Picture Frame resolution+ TVs will be out February/March 09 by my man at Toshiba. Don't think I can wait so I'll probably go with the ZV555 - the bezel on those isn't exactly large from what I can see

Has anybody managed to get confirmed prices/availability on the ZV's yet?

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

Well I nearly bought a Sony KDL 40W4500 today but the Richer Sounds guy tried to sell me an Samsung 40 xx 686 or some such so I decided to go elsewhere. Glad I did at least I have time to think about alternatives then the Toshiba advert appeared on the TV tonight and I started looking again.

The main problem for me is that the 42" model only has a 17,000 contrast level. Surely we should be expecting much higher of a "premium" tv.

I mean there are external upscalers, yes more money again but at least then I can choose the panel I want? Still I'm sure it will be a good set even with the low contrast.

Numbers in this context mean very little. Wait until you see one & then you will know.

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

Full details are on the Tosh (UK) website now. Being released 24 Nov 08. No price indication.

I was going to buy a 37 or 42XV555D but having seen this I think I'll wait a while and see how this beauty pans out!

Re: 42ZV555D & 42ZV555D out soon?

Have these got a digital channel tuner?
The spec mentions analogue but no mention of digital, but does say digital ready.
See they are now due 1 December and am looking forward to a genuine review of their resolution+.
Surprised none are out there for early reviews to help sales.
May still wait for slim bezel version provided not too long.

They have a freeview tuner from what I've read.

Spec looks very good, I'm interested in one of these to replace my 42WLT66 in the bedroom.
