I recently bought the 37" after my 32U2000 developed the green line of death. To be perfectly honest, I hate it. It posterises nearly everything from DVD and there's a fair amount of smearing. It seems you can eliminate the smearing completely but this raises the level of posterisation and there isn't a decent tradeoff - and I know because I've sat there now for hours looking for a solution.
I tried the settings given earlier in this post for the 40" and they work to a certain extent but only in as much as the screen is now so dark I can hardly see anything at all.
Bitterly disappointed!

Try these settings here that I have used for freeview.
Sony KDL40V4000 / KDL-40V4000 Review
I have the back light up to 4....
I bought the 32v4000 for the bedroom. I have it sat side by side with my Pioneer 508xd Plasma at present. Having been my first Lcd apart from PC monitors I can say I am VERY Impressed with this screen and what makes it all the more impressive was the price £370 from richer sounds.. Having always dismissed LCD's as inferior to Plasma IMO the gap has narrowed and this is not even a high end screen.... Shadow detail & Blacks are better on the Pioneer but that cost me £2500 & not really a fair comparison... Football will be the biggest test for me... But all in all for £370 put this on your short list!!!!

Ouch, thats a pretty damning verdict. Thanks for your input mate. Seems to go against the trend on here saying it is a great set, which was why i was looking for people who actually owend it themselves.

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
Hi all,
I am really interested in this set...mainly because of the price it is at atm which is an absolute bargain
My main use for this set would be to watch movies through my pc which has a hd blu ray combo drive. Im assuming DVI > HDMI would be the best connection for this...if not could someone point me into the right direction for this please?
Also if i were to proceed in connecting via HDMI from my pc would i be able to set a 1920 x 1080 res?
The reason why i ask is that my mate has an older samsung (not sure what model tho) and when i watched a film he set his res to full hd (1920 x 1080)...and i know he hasnt got a full hd screen as its only 26" - yet the screen was able to display the res and re-scale it so that it was a 1920 x 1080 - i know this because the icons and the start button on the desktop went really small as it would do when the res is increased.
If someone could shed some light into this and if this set (in 32" guise) will be able to do the same thing would be greatly appreciated
Also would it be best to use the in-built tuner or virgin box for SD viewing?

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
I just got the 26V4000 from Amazon two days ago.
Very impressed with the TV very good PQ , excellent blacks and no back light bleeding.
I like the menu which is fast and very intuitive.
I have used the settings recommended here Sony KDL40V4000 / KDL-40V4000 Review
I don't like them as it makes it too dark and all the detail gets lost. They may be OK for a larger screen but not the 26" .
Has anybody got some calibrated settings ( near to D65 ) for the 26V4000 ?

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
Woohoo... with a bit of tweaking I reckon I can fit the 32" version. (I used the cardboard test )
32" for what I was going to pay for the 26"? Ultrabargain.

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
Might seem like a strange question... but are amazon good for ordering a TV from? I can get it cheaper on other sites but not one of them seems to have escaped without being ripped apart in a thread or two here.

They were absolutely brilliant . Mind you Citilink ***** up as they did not show up for the Special Saturday delivery.
I have called Amazon and told them about the issue and they said will contact first thing Monday Morning City Link . They indeed done it and got the tv on Monday . I was quite impressed how they stepped up in sorting the problem calling me back and keeping me informed.

Well, I ordered mine from Amazon on a Thursday night. The first one came on Saturday with a broken screen. Honestly, it was mashed up badly. Might not have been Amazon's fault, though. I phoned them up and they apologised and refunded the extra "express delivery" I paid and they collected it on Monday and the new one was delivered on Tuesday. You can take that either way really, but I thought it was decent enough service. I'd use them again for something like that.
Actually, it was Play.com I was really disappointed with. Prior to ordering with Amazon, I tried Play, who are normally really reliable. I ordered the set, watched as it went from "processing" to "packaging" and there it stayed for a couple of days. Then it went to "awaiting stock", believe it or not. I phoned them and they told me the item was no longer available, which is weird.
One of those things, really, I suppose.

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
I figured they were probably one of the better ones to go for... now, super saver delivery or express? How patient am I?
City Link are usually ok around my way. Home delivery network are a bit dodgy (I usually get them for super saver delivery).
[Edit - Ordered! Got a free trial for Amazon Prime at the same time so it should arrive Friday. ]

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
I read on another forum that the SONY KDL V series has a wega engine named chip that brakes 1:1 pixelmapping (1 pixel wide font based text was not even readable if it werent black&white) and it cant be disabled, is this true?

Re: Sony KDL-26/32/37 V4000 HD READY
Hi all! I am new to the forum and have been reading many posts on the Sony 32 V4000 with interest. I had ordered a Panasonic 32 inch LXD85 from Argos for delivery today. I took the day off work to let the tv in, & while waiting here Argos phoned to say it’s out of stock!
So now I'm looking elsewhere, and would like to know of your opinions on which of my final two choices is the best for me: the Sony 32 V4000 (£369 at amazon; not in stock at my Richer sounds & John Lewis are out of stock) or Panasonic 32 LXD-85 (£499 at amazon).
My uses would be almost only Freeview tv, and sometimes standard def DVD.
I posted here as you are all knowledgeable about the Sony. I can’t find a decent formal review of the sony on google, whereas the panas has many great reviews. Essentially the differences spec-wise seem to be the 100 Hz on the panasonic. Otherwise the sony is so much cheaper. I assume both could handle blue-ray input, and downscale appropriately?... as I would like to be able to play blue-ray discs and HD feeds in the future, say a year from now or so. Many thanks indeed, once you people set me in the right direction I will hit the purchase button! :D
