Sony X3000 series settings

Please forgive me for starting a new thread but the "official thread" is massive and it's difficult to extract all the relevant data for tuning the TV.

I have the 40X3000 and think its fantastic, but it can look horrible (mine did) on the shipped picture settings. After a couple of months of playing around with the settings I reckon I've got about the best picture I can, using settings based on what other people have posted on the forums. I propose people (if they're interested) post their settings as per the format below so that it will help others to get the best out of their telly. Rather than could the data by getting into a discussion about the good and bad points.

Product info
1: 40x3000
2: 460XXXX
3: WJ-BA-A-HOI-O-FYB-O

Source
Topfield Freeview SD PVR SCART RGB

Video Settings

Light Sensor: Off

Notes
TV suffers from slight torchlight patterns on a black screen, but not noticeable in normal viewing.
Motion smearing is also present and has been pretty bad at times, but tweaking to these settings seems to have reduced it to barely noticeable. I think this may be affected by source quality & differences as well as a TV issue. Possibly due to a digital picture being converted to analogue in the PVR being sent to the TV and being converted back to digital again.
When I'm happy with my PS2 & DVD settings I'll also post here.

Re: Sony X3000 series settings

Thanks for the settings details but just looking at them, I know it wouldn't work for my X3000.

It would be way too bright with Power saving off and I have my colour set to 70, on 47 everything looks too dull.

Re: Sony X3000 series settings

Will completely depend upon set and ambience. Blacks are definitely black with this setup on my TV it does have a window behind it though.

Comments
I find these ideal for my maximum viewing distance of 8ft.
The Light Sensor saves time from adjusting the backlight manually all the time.
DRC mode helps with freeview picture quality, channels and programmes vary.
Turned over to Neighbours a couple of weeks ago and the depth in skin detail was almost HD-like quality, I was shocked.
Football is shocking on freeview.
The motion enhancer set to Standard helps when there is text scrolling, or signs when camera pans past. Making them more readable, compared to the unreadable blur when its turned off.

I would go to the review for the x3500 on HDTVTEST.co.uk. Those settings listed there give a very good picture.
