re: Sony 32/40/46/52 W4000 Full HD(Bravia Engine 2,33.000:1 Contrast) Thread

Set up my new Sony 40W4500 today (bought from RS) and have to report that so far no sign of clouding or backlight bleed. Great picture and good sound. At the moment I have a Sky+ box so I can't vouch for the HD picture yet. Sky HD comming on 20th December so I'll have to wait til then for Hi Def. On the presant showing, I am sure Hi Def will be fantastic.

Connecting a USB memory stick I found that it seems to show the image at the original resolution, so a 1920x1080 fills the screen but a 1024x768 is centred with black edges all around. I haven't (yet) found a way to fullscreen it even though it shows an option to this.

re: Sony 32/40/46/52 W4000 Full HD(Bravia Engine 2,33.000:1 Contrast) Thread

I definately got a problem with with full pixel mode in the menu. I understand it's great for HD etc, but on sd I get those light dashes on the top left of the tv. The solution is obviously to turn it off for sd, but when I turn it off, change to another scource (and or back), or switch set off and then on (or from standby), tv always automatically switches full pixel back on. I have 3 devices linked to the tv all by hdmi..freesat, ps3, recordable dvd. It is satrting to get extremely annoying, as I'm having to switch off full pixel many times daily. Also I dont believe that the light dashes are to do with the scource because if you zoom in the sd picture, the light dashes remain exactly where they were before, even though the picture is enlarged. You'd think that there would be a vertical adjustement for everything in the menu to overcome this or maybe this inability of the tv to not remember that full pixel has been turned off is particular to my tv only, Drac

Hello guys is it possible to get 1080p through VGA on the Sony KDL 32W4000E Tv?

Tv would be mainly used for gaming on the Xbox 360 and I use a VGA cable with my 360..

I have just ordered the 46w4000 to use in the showhouses and was wondering if the w4500 is a big step up in regards to pic quality/performance? was just an impulse buy as we got a good deal on it.

They both have a balck level of 0.05cd/m so your paying more for the 100hz and design. The W4500 seems to suffer from input lag aswell as a worse case of clouding, but im not 100% sure on the latter.

the W4500 has about the same lag as W4000 with game mode so no issue here and clouding cases arent more than those in W4000

re: Sony 32/40/46/52 W4000 Full HD(Bravia Engine 2,33.000:1 Contrast) Thread

i plug mi htpc with a ati radeon 9600xt by hdmi-dvi cable, and a sony tft 17" by vga in extended mode using ati hydravision. The high resolution i can get in my 32w4000 is 1920x1080p@24hz, and when i select in ati ccc 1080@50hz or 60hz the screen goes black. should be able to get this frecuencys at 1080p via dvi cable with my ghrapic card in extended mode?

re: Sony 32/40/46/52 W4000 Full HD(Bravia Engine 2,33.000:1 Contrast) Thread

Hello i can configure mi resolution to 1080p 50 and 60hz, but i have another problem. When i select 1080p24 i got 2 or 3 pixels of overscan on the left side of the screen, en when i select 1080p50 or 60 i have the same result y the other sido of the screen. I have a ati radeon 9600xt with the latest drivers, and i use a dvi-hdmi converter connected to the dvi out on the graphic card and a cheap hdmi cable . Anyone has observed the same issue?

re: Sony 32/40/46/52 W4000 Full HD(Bravia Engine 2,33.000:1 Contrast) Thread

Hey guys, I've been wondering, for anyone who uses a Xbox 360 with HDMI on their W4000....

What resolution do you set your 360 to? I had mine set to 1080p for quite a while allowing the console to do the scaling work but I recently changed to 720p on the console since most games are that resolution natively and I am pretty sure the image is ever so slightly crisper.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Also, with the new NXE update does anyone know what the best colour settings to use are with the W4000?

Cheers

Nope, the xbox just outputs at a single specified resolution.

I've tried 720p but it seems to display in 4:3, unless I manually switch it - anyone else had this?
I'd imagine using 720p for everything but 1080p HD video would be the better option as the TV will almost certainly have a better scaler.
