LG LY95 series: S-IPS, 1080/24p, 5000:1, 10bit, 2*HDMI, DVB-T, WCG, 1:1 pixel mapping

There seems to be scant information or discussion on the new LY95 series from LG.

The features list does look quite nice though:

- 1080p
- 2 * HDMI 1.3
- 24p through HDMI
- WCG starting from 42"
- 1 * YUV component
- dynamic contrast: 5000:1 (52 ": 6000:1)
- 8ms response time (52 ": 5ms)
- 10bit LUT (only 42 " and 47 ")
- DCDi Faroudja de-interlacing
- Pure Black level
- True Wide View (178°)
- 1:1 pixel mapping through HDMI

No 100Hz support though.

Specifications of LG 52", 47", 42" & 37" LY95
http://www.lgenordic.com/images/cach....LY-series.pdf

RRP is:

- 37LY95 1699€
- 42LY95 1999€
- 47LY95 2999€

According to a Lesnumeriques forum post.

German price comparison engines are showing prices starting from 1 411 EUR for the 37" model:

http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/...ectronics.html

Anybody got one yet? Impressions esp. against the Samsung M87 series?

I actually wait for the LF65/LF66 series, but seems to me the delivery are slided somewhat... IF the digital-point really have 37" and 47" LY95 in stock (as well 47LF66), thats be a good forecast tough.

Re: LG LY95 series: S-IPS, 1080/24p, 5000:1, 10bit, 2*HDMI, DVB-T, WCG, 1:1 pixel map

We sell LG at my work and we just received the new LY series the other today.

We tried an Apple Laptop with DVI->HDMI and the LY95 showed a picture with overscan. We couldn't get the picture 100% correct at 1920x1080.

Any suggestions?

hello not tried a pc on the baby yet, but on the ratio button on the handset there is 16:9,4:3,1:1 as a option so see no reason why no pixel mapping over dvi>hdmi, Just waiting for my wall bracket at the mo, so mine still is in box sorry.

I'm Norwegian, but my job is in Sweden. If you happen to be 130km south of Oslo you're welcome to drop by.

This is definitely the best looking of the the 3 sets I'm interested in.

So it does 1080p 1:1 over both HDMI inputs, component and VGA?

The 37" and 47" are in stock at EmpireDirect but the 42" isn't even listed.

DigiUK have it in stock and for sale at £1198 with free delivery.

The Gadget Show have a 'First Test' on their site.

Just got the 37" version of these. First impressions are its one slick looking TV, and I must of looked at about 100 different TV's over the last couple of weeks. Build quality is second to none, design, remote flawless. Standard sky TV - about what I expected, not amazing but does the job. DVD through a Toshiba hde1 - truly great, really shows off the best of DVD. and Finally HD - The jewel in this TV's crown. Well watched Pirates of the Carribeen 1 + 2 (blu ray via PS3) and I can honestly say that this is the most detailed, colurful example of HD film I have ever seen, constantly throughout I was totally amazed at the sheer amount of detail, it does really look 3D. After I tryed the discs on my LG AN110 projector and must admit that this TV may have spolied me because the detail is not in the same league on the PJ anymore.

Heres a couple of pics although bear in mind that they were taken on a nokia 6230i phone.
*** excuse the stand - not had chance to get a new one yet LOL***

There is no PIP on any of the new 1080p LG LCD's. I know this as I emailed them about this. I have no idea why they have decided to drop this from their newer LCD's but is disapointing.

Sound is really good, solid bass and has virtual suuround sound, all in all this set is bang on. I was gonna go for the panny 37px70 plasma, glad I changed my mind, playing ps3 games on the plasma would have just made me paranoid all the time.

Thanks for the photos journeyman. What's it like with fast motion?

Also, did it accept the 24 Hz output from the PS3? Does the stand swivel?

fast motion is no problem atall, the images are 100% crisp. trust me watching pirates of the carribean was the best experiance of high definition I have ever experianced.

Yes the stand does swivel.

not sure about the 24hz from ps3, I just set it to 1080p.

Yes the stand does swivel.

not sure about the 24hz from ps3, I just set it to 1080p.
Thanks.

If you have the latest update for your PS3, the next time you watch a Blu-ray it should automatically ask the screen if it will accept the 24 Hz output and if you press the info button (or whatever it is called on the LG remote, if it has one) it should display the resolution and frequency you're currently running at.

The manual mentioned it is 24p compatible but I'm trying to find out if it displays it normally or converts it to 60 Hz.
