Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

.AVI divx are working very well, i have 100% success with those. The real problem is about DTS as stanny2k said. I would also pay to have DTS sound working!

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

I've been trying to get the converted mkv's using that 'xeninMKV' program to load. .mp4's I just tried atleast 15 times with it rebooting every time with different mp4's.

**edit**

well must of tried another 10 or so times, failed every time. Used different formats too. Moral of the story dont use an Ipod. Terrible succcess rate with it. Need to get a external asap.

Is it ironic or you mean that samsung has no money to get a license and all the multimedia hard drive manufacturer have more?

Any external hard drive will be fine. NTFS works, so use that but make sure you buy at least 8gb. Any modest HD video will be at least 4gb, and on a 4gb USB stick you only get like 3.7gb so the videos wont fit on

Try using "Megui" or "mkvmerge" by toolnix to get mkv or mp4 that work flawlessly

Hey guys,

My 37B550 was just delivered, and it appears the menu option to enable video playback isn't just greyed out, its no longer there at all.

Firmware version 2009/06/26_001001

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

So it seem that the newly manufactured B550 sets have had the video palyback feautures completely disabled.

Maybe if you are able to downgrade the firmware video playback will work.

I'm not too worried about it as the tv is next to my PC, so I'm running XBMC for all my media needs. Would have been a nice bonus is all

I think the newly factory manufactured b550 sets have this feature disabled.

What is the manufacture date on the set you purchased.

presumably the 650, which has this divx supported out of the box doesnt it? has some different hardware/software combo internally which allows it to work flawlessly.

maybe there is no fix!

the type of file, type of drive size/format/power or order you do things in does not influence play success. Therefore it must be that the TV is just not that stable at initiating playback for whatever reason.

This seems to be the case.

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

Hello,

I've received the LE32B554 last week and the trick worked on my NTFS formatted Sandisk 16 Gb stick.

What did'nt work was the firmware upgrade. I followed all instructions but it keeps telling me that there is no (i have to translate this from dutch) image found on the USB stick.

Any suggestions?

What is the four letter code you have at the right hand side of your tv? also how is the quality of mkv or divx playback on the set.

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

I've found the right image to upgrade my firmware on my le32b554MP (got the model with the ci interface). Unfortunatly, the firmware disables the wiselink movie option. So I had to revert. Anyone solved this issue with ver 2003.0?

Kind regards

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

Does anyone have earlier firmware for this tv eg. 2001.0 or 1008 which they could upload somewhere? I am sure if you flash the tv with earlier firmware then the divx playback will be restored.

he just mentioned he did it somehow? pm him perhaps.

On a further note since I got my brothers external hard drive back and stopped using the ipod, play back has been 100%. Clearly its dependent on the external source somehow.

I wonder if its the quality of the cable? What speed it transfers at? The ipod cable is rather small (lower quality, slower transfer speeds??)

not sure about the code... at work, but the quality of MKV and divx is superb. MKV is especially nice for obvious reasons.

Oh I'm aware that you can roll-back firmware from the menu provided your tv had an earlier firmware installed.

The problem for the newer owners who have just the latest firmware from the factory (Wiselink disabled) will be unable to roll-back from the tv menu and therefore cannot enable Wiselink Movie unless they have a copy of an earlier firmware to hand.

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

Great post , I won a Le40B550 in work. This is my first HD TV and without a bluray player was unable to see anything in HD.

I have found some most MFV's have DTS sound but the sound can be removed and converted to AC3 handy enough. This LCD is a great piece of kit but with the MKV's on USB stick what more could you want.

Many thanks

Just on the firmware note I only updated mine in the last 2 weeks and still able to activitate the options.

Do you still have the firmware on your computer or USB stick? It would help a lot of people out if you did.

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

Hello,

I have just received this TV and it came with firmware 1003 which allowed the wiselink to be enabled. I then updated to the latest firmware which had the wiselink option greyed out and the video playback no longer worked. I reverted back to 1003 and wiselink could be enabled again.

I have experienced no problems playing loads of video types using an external powered WD hard drive but it work intermittently with my unpowered usb stick so maybe the playback problems are due the usb device type.

Does anyone know what is the most recent firmware that will support the video playback and where to get it?

Exclamation Try these settings

These are ny settings for the B550, the video functions works perfectly, even have controls (next 10secs, previous, etc.) and remember the last viewed scene from a movie. I tried it with an USB stick (FAT) and an external NTFS drive, the both works fine without an introduction video (the famous 30 secs avi) NEVER RESTARTS. Works like the picture viewer. I have the firmware version CHL5DEUC-2003.0 and you can see the settings for the service menu in the attached image.

Sorry for the quality, i'd taken the picture with a mobile phone and for my english...

Re: SAMSUNG B550 - How to enable MKV & DIVX/XVID playback

So firmware 2006 that I installed no longer supports the usb video playback and I reverted back to 1003 to allow video playback.

Does anyone have a link to firmware 2003 as this seems to be the latest that supports the usb video playback?

Samsung don't publish changelogs for their TV firmwares IIRC.

Hi mate I removed it from the USB stick to be able to fit MkV's on. At work now but will check the laptop to see if its still on it.

Also has anyone tried a USB hardrive yet, I'm waiting to get the PPH c200 and was looking at something I could get now but then be able to use with the PPH when it comes out.
