I just wish i could get an hdmi cable for my 360 but as it is one of the first models i have not seen one anywhere.
Sounds patronising, and please don't take offence, but are all the connectors in the mini component jack fully? You might just have a dodgy connector

Maybe call Samsung and get a replacement connector sent out before spending any more money?

When you do get it all up and running, its a really good set for gaming. PGR4 really did feel like a new game, faster than it was previously

2. On cnet it was said that this TV has poor viewing angles. How bad is it?

And by the way, what do you think, is it worth waiting for B8000 in June? It will bring 200Hz, but I wonder this feature is not so outstanding as it advertisement described.
Don't think the 200 Hz will eliminate the trailing like mentioned in the FlatpanelsHD review here. The video shows very serious trailing: www.flatpanelshd.com - Your guide to flat panel monitors and TVs - Reviews

Re: Samsung 7020 Reviews anywhere?

The Trusted Reviews review of the 46B8000 reported no problems with trailing, on the contrary the reviewer believed the 200hz processing to work rather well, and pointed out (in a comment below the review), that he thought it was an improvement over the 100hz systems of the lower spec models such as the B7000.

Cheers for the advice but sorted it.
Was all set to take the tv back as it is only a few weeks old but decided to try the picture input from the 360 and the sound from the wii and see if it still buzzed.
Did that and no buzzing.
As i was connecting the 360 sound plugs back in i noticed i had the red sound plug into the red picture plug and had the picture to the sound plug
Now that i have put them the correct way all is fine.
I was sure that i had them correct and i had removed and refitted them a few times to check them but must have not noticed they were swapped round.
Like people say always re-check the plug and make sure to have good light when doing it.
Cheers for the advice.

It might be worth while checking the other reviews to see if they have used this test on other sets.

If you need anything else looking at, and its within my means I'm more than happy to play around :D
so do you think that playing games on pc useing this screen as monitor will/may get trailing/lag, cheers

But the sharpness didnt made any difference. And now I see grantosuk seting at 0. Some light in this, please? Great forum, btw...
you should always set sharpness to 0, it only adds noise to image otherwise.

wipeout is a very fast game, so you notice no trailing or lag then ?, also when watching blurays on ps3 do you get any of that horrid judder/panning that others have seen, cheers

be it 100hz or 200hz, most people turn it straight off anyway on lcd's as it makes picture look unrealistic anyway, all these motion settings only add extra processing to source.

Thx... Can you share the settings of your Samsung LED LCD?

Ps. no lag at all in wipeout HD. As for the blu-ray nothing to complain. I'm really thinking about buying a all in one system of Blu-Ray, anyway. A sony maybe? My actual home cinema dont have optic so the only sound I can have is the low one from the ue40b7000.

Most of these settings are pretty ok as a basis, but you should really get your set calibrated to get the best image. Some of the settings above aren't ideal though:

Edge Enhancement: you should always turn this off, it will only add artificial sharpness.
xvYCC: should also be turned off, because it isn't usefull with most sources. For an interesting read on xvYCC (and Deep Colour) you might want to read this and this article.

Re: Samsung 7020 Reviews anywhere?

Wanted to bump this as I saw a demo of the 7000/7020 in John Lewis and Currys and it looked pretty good.

I had a question around the auto-dimming though - how badly does it affect viewing, with regards to "darker" films (e.g. The Dark Knight, Sin City, etc)?

Also, am I right in thinking that I can just stick an AVI onto a memory stick, chuck it into the USB slot, and play the file directly through that? Any issues with synching, especially regarding sound being played through an external system?

Any help appreciated

I can help on the usb stick front ...when I was looking at the Samsung tv......I took an avi film into a storeand it played it right off
.No Probs at all.
Something the Sony just couldnt/wouldnt do.

One thought though as in the end I decided NOT to go this route. I spent ages looking at this tv......its impressive.........but ended up comparing it to a Panasonic plasma........which I concluded was far "easier to watch"...less harsh and more relaxing over long periods.

So I got the 46in panasonic together with a 5 year manufacturers warranty.....and play all my media via a playstation.

Totally pleased.

Re: Samsung 7020 Reviews anywhere?

Thanks for the info - which Panny plasma did you go for in the end?

I was considering the V10 series, but wasn't particularly impressed in the shop by the picture. Perhaps it was the shop settings. Then again, I do tend to see green fringing on plasmas (saw it on a G10 demo and was very off putting when testing out COD 4 on the Xbox360), so presumably I'll also see it on the V10.

I'm in the same boat, I can't decide between the Pann 46G15 and teh Samsung 46 7020. I'm a big Panasonic fan and had a 42" Pan plasma for 4 years but I keep going back and having a look at the Samsung LEDs. I've not seen much in the way of SD from external sources. How would you say they compare with SD coming from a Sky stb or upscaled DVD?

Which model did u go for?

Re: Samsung 7020 Reviews anywhere?

does the auto dimming function affect playing games and watching blu-ray etc. it sounds particularly annoying to me but if its not that noticeable ill consider buying this set.

Thanks, Joe

ps is the P.Q the same as the 6000 series
