If we take it for granted that we can not place a 60Hz panel in a 100Hz or 120Hz TV then one more option left. The other one.

It means that the 37B650 has the AUO 120Hz 10bit panel…

Can it be true?

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread

anybody recommends paysan...?
i did find le37b650 for 749 delivered..
but not sure about reliability of this company
link:
Samsung LE37B650 37" HD Ready LCD TV With Freeview :: Televisions :: Electronics :: Paysan ~ Lifestyle Shopping For The Home & Garden

also is there any quality and function difference between 37b650 and 40b650?
for me 40 is probably way too big..i would preffer 37 if tv has same functions like 40inch

What happens if you go into "menu -application-" and choose Internet@TV ?
There is no new firmware for the B650 series yet AFAIK

The youtube thing looks good by the way, much better than the widgets and more watchable

Here's a picture of my back light bleed (LE46B652T4WXXU) CN01

Back light was set to 3, brightness 45 and contrast 70

Another thing I'm now noticing is that this set has really poor viewing angles. Any slight head movement results in colours being washed out and blacks turning grey.

D'oh! Never noticed it said DVI/HDMI. It's a loooooooot better now. The text still looks somewhat aliased, so I'll go try tweak the cleartype and do that 4:4:4 thing. Thanks a lot, man!

As for the service menu, don't go in there unless you have a specific reason. Many people have gone in there 'to look' and accidently changed settings and then had major problems with the TV.
That sucks, can't think of any reasons not to include those inputs. Oh well.

About that service menu, can you please tell me how to get in there. I will write down the values before I touch anything. I'm no noob

Yep, that's the same as mine, although mine isn't quite as bad (I think, bit tough to tell from a photo).. I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow & post it to compare.

What do the experts think of this? Is this enough to reject an otherwise good TV? Should we expect some degree of clouding?

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread

Hello there. I'm new here at AVForums.

I'm on the market for a new 46" TV and I'm loving the new Sam 46B750. As it isn't many B750 infos, because I think it's not being sold yet, I'm reading about the B650 and I'm becoming scared about too many backlight bleeding reports

Will the B750 be any diferent in this area ?
It will be my 1st flat panel TV ( currently I have a CRT ) and I'm very afraid to be disapointed with things like bleeding and clouding with the LCD tecnologie.

Are Plasma flat TV's better in this field ?

And is there any trusted review on the B750 ?

Thanks mates.

The picture doesn't make it look that bad. It's far worse in reality.

Does anyone know anything about the panels yet? I've had 3 that have all behaved differently from each other.

If Samsung are using different panels in each batch of TV then surely they are guilty of false advertising? They don't all operate exactly the same as each other and there seems to be no consistency.

My first set was stunning but had a red pixel in the middle of the screen. Only had very minor bleeding though.

Second set was D.O.A (Panel failure out of the box). No bleeding though lol

Third set, poor viewing angles, colour blur on dark reds and bad bleed.

If I tried to get a refund from Comet they'd think I was trying to pull a fast one. It would also be very hard to show them the back light bleed in their 'brighter-than-the-sun' store

What's the odds of getting 3 faulty sets in a row?

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread

Im surprised and pretty dissapointing that Samsung are using different panel manufacturers for this TV. I would be extremely annoyed if i bought one and it was a non Samsung panel and it had bleed or whatever. I thought Samsung had stopped doing that since last years 6 series model used only Samsung panels.

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread

Yet another review for the B650.
Samsung LE40B650 Review

Given that Samsung's upscaling of SD is so good in the B650, do I just need to buy a DVD player with an HDMI output, rather than one with upscaling built in?

Was watching a HD demo in a store last night, have to say that the B650 was IMO noticably superior to the Panasonics, Sonys and other Samsungs (plasma & LCD) when working with the same HD source.

Hi Tekky,

can tell you now that you have the wrong version of the firmware. Did you have a usb stick included in the packaging with instructions on adding new f/ware? If not you need to install the new version. Not sure if that will fix it but you need to update the firmware anyway as it is not the newest version. You Tube is also not supported here you should only have yahoo.

I think it's pretty bad that Sasmung advertises those widgets on the national website, but doesn't deliver them. I wrote tech support, but the only thing I got back was that they have no idea at the moment and wait for the Engineers to reply. I guess I can wait forever.

Be reassured, I'm delighted with my B650, the only problem I have is the downloads for the Content Library (they won't play but the pre-installed stuff does), I've informed Samsung, so hopefully if other users complain then it will be fixed, it's not a deal breaker as I'ts a feature I probably will seldom use.

I have no backlight bleed that I can see in normal usage, ie. actually watch the TV instead of a black screen, you will always get faulty units and I believe it's only the over obsessed or unlucky buyers who would notice anything, my test is to watch a movie with really dark scenes, if I can see light at the corners then I have backlight bleed.

I was going for a Sony but the Samsung beats it IMHO with it's great connectivity and media playing ability and excellent PQ

Not sure of the significance of the version number, 4 different numbers have been posted so far. Could be something to do with size?

I do know that the full model number shows where the TV was intended for use.

The UK model is LE??B650T2WXXU the U being for UK I presume.

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread

Hi,
Has anyone manged to get a S-Video feed to work via the SCARTs on this TV? Admittedly, I can't find any mention in the manual of support for this, but I was rather hoping. My AV amp puts out S-Video, so this would be good if I could get it working.

@Mogwai1:

What exactly is your firmware version? Everyone here reported the same firmware T-CHELEU-0101. What version are you talking about?

And a usb stick enclosed? Where did that come from?

More codes for ziffius - I just went over to Comet and Currys to have another look at the B650s.

All 37" panels were AA01 - 37B65x, 37B55x and 37A45x models.

All 40" panels were either SQ01 or SQ02 - 40B65x, 40A656, 40A45x and even a 40A856.

The 46B65x TVs I saw were CN01 and CN02 which is confusing as massman reported his 46" as SQ01 which is one of the 40" codes.

I'm sure I saw a post where it said that these codes weren't related to the panels, just the line that the sets were produced on (edit: it was ziffius on page 20!).

That's what I found too, all the Samsung 40" I saw had SQ01 or SQ02 panels. I believe it's thought the SQ panels are produced on the 7G line. It's intresting that all the TV's that have been reviewed by HDTVtest, Trustedreviews and hdtvorg.co.uk have been 40" models. Could mean nothing though.

And also a bit worrying when you are after a 37", all the reviews are of 40B650s and you find out that they have different panel types! How are we supposed to make decent buying decisions when there are so many differences within a model series that, to all intents and purposes, should be the same.

IMO the only thing that should be different on models of the same series are the screen sizes. Then you know that whatever size you buy it should be comparable with the other sizes. If they aren't comparable then they should give them different model numbers.

Also, I would not feel comfortable wasting the time of a "decent" TV shop doing side-by-side comparisons of a TV and checking it for all input types only to then go and buy it online for £100 less, so I do all my viewing in the big stores like Comet, Currys and PCworld as I don't mind wasting their time.

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread

I've been really close and I mean unbelievable close to buying the 32". But now I getting the impression that the panel in the 32" is different from the ones in the 40". Is that true? If yes what is the difference and how does it materialise?

Cheers?

The AUO panels in the 37" are normally pretty good. I think on the US forum, people preffered the AUO panels to the Samsung SS0x panels.

I went to Cribbs Causeway to view them, as they have a Currys, Comet and John Lewis all next to each other. So I was able to vew the B650, B651 and B652.

I asked in the Currys if they B750 was exclusive to them, was told there was no B750 lol, was assured the A756 was never exclusive to them, he also insisited Samsung never used other peoples panels and was rude when I suggested they did. I was standing next to a AUO equipped LE32B650 while I was asked. I just get fed up with the sales people not leaving you alone, and most aren't that good, I don't feel comfortable in either Currys or Comet anymore

John Lewis on the other hand were pretty good, they never bugged me even though I was going round with a camera and sticking right upto the screens. It was totally wierd, you actually had to queue upto to speak to a sales assistant as they were all busy at the time lol. They also price matched a 40B650 for £860, but I'm going to wait for another BD-1600 Blu-Ray deal.

I hope and pray the B750 isn't exclusive to Dixons like the A756 was One of the staff checked the computer for all the stock due in for the next month, and there was no B750. If the A756 wasn't exclusive to Dixons, I would have one infront of me now.

I've only seen 3 32B65x (one 32B650, one 32B651 and one 32B652), but all had AUO panels. AUO panels are still pretty good though. None had a A,C or S on the back sticker like in this picture of my 2008 A456.

So it seems Samsung are no longer doing this.

I know it's a A456 so from Dixons, so please no one shoot me. It was only £262 and was intending to flog it early next and get a new 40" from JL when Samsung does a TV with Freeview HD built in. The B650/ B750 is tempting me though lol.

Thanks a lot. As I am a newbie to this I don't have any idea of how the AUO compare to the panels in the 40". What is the deal with the A, C and S sticker on the back?

I apologize for my ignorance

Thanks in advance
