LE46A786 Vs LE46A756

Does anybody know the difference between the Samsung LE46A786 and the LE46A756? (do they have a different spec or is it purely that the 756 is sold via different retailers)

Prices tend to vary between them, a few sites sell both, with some selling the 756 at a more expensive price to the 786 (and vice versa)...all very confusing...I have emailed Samsung, but still no response...

Great forum btw, thank you in advance for any help

Mark

I've been trying to work out which model to go for, and still cannot make up my mind.

The 786 has LED backlighting and a better contract ratio, but the connectivity seems to have been downgraded, ie: the 786 dosen't have DLNA, Wiselink Pro, InfoLive nor the Content Library, all of which the 756 has.

So, do you want better connectivity, or a better screen?

Guys,

take a look in the 780 led forum as there is a couple of reviews of the 786 set which may make up your mind.

Just because the 786 has LED backlighting and a 'higher' contrast ratio, doesn't mean it's got a better panel...

There are other factors that can affect the overal PQ much more that should be taken into account. For one, it would seem its deinterlacing and scaling abilities are average...

Here's a review of the 786: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/samsu...0080922131.htm

It does look like a fairly good panel though!

Here's a review of the 786: Samsung LE40A786 Review

It does look like a fairly good panel though!

I would take those reviews with a pinch of salt sometimes as real world viewing is sometimes different, I would ask the question to those within the 780 forum. I have the 786 and I had a 46f86 before and tbh it is in a different class.

'Those reviews' are also unbiased, unlike the reviews of users on this forum... The are also more techincal than many user reviews are, often answering more questions.

It might interest you to know that the guys on HDTVtest frequent these forums!

Re: LE46A786 Vs LE46A756

Hmmm this is interesting,
I wrote to Samsung and Dixons...responses below

FROM SAMSUNG
Regarding your query on the product, the details of the specification
are listed on the UK website, SAMSUNG United Kingdom - Main . The A786 has the
higher specification...

FROM DIXONS
The Samsung LE46A756R television is the new series 7 model, the shape will
be different from the Samsung LE46A786R. The new series & television has
the latest LCD technology such as 100Hz Motion plus, Full HD 1080p and
Ultra Clear Panel. The Series 7 is also a multimedia centre piece with
features like Wiselink Pro, Info Live, Contents Library and DLNA
connection, allowing you to access media content from various sources
including live information direct from the internet. The specifications on
this model are higher than the Samsung LE46A786R...

So now I am really confused, Samsung say the 786 has the best specification and Dixons say the 756 is best...

Please don't tell me you'd give one ounce of credibility into what Dixons have told you....

You can see the specs for yourself. If it's down the the picture quality, only you can decide what's best for you so, you need to audition the two sets.

Yeah innit although I am sure they would agree that it is as important to get feedback from users; and as a lot of people say most forum posts are either questions or as you say biased, mostly negative IMO. They also have pro calibration equipment, and perfectly lit rooms to view the sets in, so like I said it is sometimes better to get real world opinions. Even just to gauge what the sets can do for us normo's who have none of the above.

Re: LE46A786 Vs LE46A756

It's not easy to say which is 'best'. One has 'better' connectivity while the other has potentially better picture/contrast. However, LED lighting is still in its infancy so you pays your money and takes your choice...
It was a bit silly of Samsung to call both of these fundamentally different sets the '7 series'....
