I've tried to update with the procedure of kamuida, but nothing happened. I've used a Memory Stick made by Iodata, Japan, 128MB, formatted FAT32, then I've copied the file MEMSTICK.IND and se3_proto1 folder at the root of my Memory Stick. After the steps (power off, etc...) nothing happened.
Please help me, an ideea, any help. Thank you.

Don't copy my MEMSTICK.IND present in my archive, format your MS via Sony formatter tools and then copy only se3_proto1, and follow process like below:

Quote:
New firmware available here
Free - Envoyez vos documents

or there
Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

Sony 40W4000 Firmware: EJ-PT-BE-CTPS-A.CY.Z

the install is very simple:

-Format your Memory Stick or 32M + FAT with soft Sony Memory Formatter
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/memstick...FMTINST250.exe
-extracting archive 40W4000.rar
-copy se3_proto1 folder at the root of your Memory Stick.
-turn on your TV watch and put you in HDMI or another external mode
-unplug the cable directly to TV food
-insert the Memory Stick in the small slot on the left of the TV near the PCMCIA module.
-reconnect the power supply of TV
-Do not touch anything ..
after one minute wait you will see a message UPDATE in botton right screen
-Then there are the red and orange leds that will flash
-Wait 3 to 5 min
When the 3-LED lights up red, orange, green.
-The update is complete.
-unplug the power cord and remove the Memory Stick.

Your update is done, you need to rescan you tv channel etc...

I don't have any changelog for this firmware

Cheers,
Kamuida

Oh, thank you, kamuida. Do you think it works also on non original Sony Memory Stick (i.e. mine is Iodata)?

I've tried. Didn't work. I do not know where is the problem:

1. Non original Sony MS?
2. FAT32 formatted, maybe must be FAT16?
3. Maybe I need MS PRO Duo?

I am desperate...

FAT32 should be OK, I used my psp memory stick duo pro + adpatator.

Maybe you could try with another MS, but keep in mind this firmware don't have really new changes or features, so it's not mandatory to upgrade.

If your TV works fine don't upgrade it.

Ok, I will try another MS. I have the two channels jump problem in digital tuner. I understood this firmware solves that.

After more tries, (MS formatted with a digital photo camera, not a PC) I succeeded to update from D.C-EQ-Q-C.T.MA-A.CY.BD, and now I have

EJ-FA-Q-C.T.PS-A.CY.BD and digital
EJ-PT-BE-C.T.PS-A.CY.BD

I saw many of you have A.CY.T or A.CY.Z at the end. Why I don’t have the same?
And the 2 channel jump seems not to be solved.

Hi...
Right, I have combed this thread for how to actually perform an over the air firmware update and cannot find it. I would rather do this so that i know it is a legit firmware.

Can someone please tell me how to go about this?
Also if anyone has any info on a change log and can confirm this will not brick my TV which i am very happy with.

Many thanks!

Hey there,

New to this forum. I tried updating my 46W4000 to the latest firmware provided by Ste1144. However despite using a MS formatted on a Sony Device (a pocket camera) nothing happens on the TV when following the process.

Could anyone help ?

Thanks !

Julien

Hi. My TV has the 'green shadow' problem. I went into service and the values were; R: 153 G: 164, B:150. Would adjusting these help and if so, how much should I adjust?

And would a FW update help?

Before messing with the service menu (which can void any warranty) use the options in the regular settings menu under Advanced in the Picture Settings.

I've tried that. Besides, when the TV was sent away, it looked fine under x-settings. It came back with the exact same settings, with the green-problem...

But now you have a new panel, which you have already stated favours the green. Every panel is different.

So you changed the White Balance in the Picture Settings menu?

No mate, I've actually changed nothing except for turning down colour in the main menu to 48. It helped a bit, but going beyond that is ruining the picture.

I believe that the clock on Freeview is integrated into the information banner so will not display separately on Freeview inputs. If you press i+ (which would normally toggle the clock .etc.) on Freeview it displays the information banner instead.

That is my guess.

Clock

Hi Matt.
I am getting the clock on the bottom right when i go into my blu-ray and also when I go into my freeview box inputs.
Its when I just I press channels on the tv remote eg,, bbc or itv the clock disappears,if i press the i+ i get the banner on the tv the second press should bring up the clock in the right hand corner but it does not.
Cheers Donros

But is there a clock on the banner that shows during the first i press? I don't have your model, but my other Sony models integrate the clock into the information banner. I'm assuming by TV you mean it's inbuilt freeview tuner rather than the analogue tuner. For analogue I would expect the clock to display because analogue doesn't have an information banner.

clock

Hi.
Yes the banner comes up it shows time plus other details about the program.
But according to the manual 2nd press should set clock at corner,
I just switched to analog and the clock was there ,so have to keep pressing for banner to get time..uggh
Cheers donros

It is a deliberate implementation, it would be very annoying if you had to press i twice to remove the banner.

As a user you are very unusual in that you use the on-screen clock, so for most it is better that the clock is integrated into the banner.
