Can someone explain to me why JL Glasgow say you'll receive a call within 48-hrs and then after nothing tell me that I am to expect a letter and that if it's not arrived yet it should be there soon?

Maybe its because theyre annoyed that people are paying more than £300 less than the sky high prices they advertise for their TVs.

Re: John Lewis Pricematch Table *Part 2*

Well I got home from work and have my letter from JL.

They have price matched the LE46A686 advertised on their website at £1,270 with RW who sell it (online) at £949.99 yet JL have quoted me £1,049.00. At that price I can spend an extra £20 at RW and get a free Blu-Ray player?!?!

Do RW sell things for an extra £100 in store or have JL messed something up? The TV hasn't sudenly dropped in price today because I've had my eye on it for a week and its been at that price the whole time.

If I order from RW direct, I get 5 years free warranty, the same as JL so whats stopping me just ordering from RW? Do they not ship to southern England people?

Re: John Lewis Pricematch Table *Part 2*

Just a post to say I was disspointed with trying to get JL to price match the Sony Centre (Trafford Centre) - this was in store. When I asked the guy he said he would speak to the manager, came back, he said I would have to buy the TV and BD player at their list price, and they would then investigate and refund me a few weekd down the line. Which IMO is total nonsense and a very dubious thing to promise.

Its not like they were price matching an online store, it was another retailer on the same site.

Any how credit to the Sony centre, that were very organised, chucked in the some free BDs (on my request) - AND a 5yr gurantee was included in the price. Great customer service!

FYI - this is the 2nd time I have had a poor experince at JL, the last time was when I took my Dad to look at Satnavs, and they couldn't demo any as all the batteries were flat!!!

Wow great deal, can I ask what you needed to do to get this deal? I presume you just told them about the offer then they price matched it for you?

Just went into the Richer Sounds and they just had the plain TV for £680. I asked if there was a combo deal with a HDD recorder and he hadn't heard of one...

The combo deal is on John Lewis from what i can see

They throw the Hdd recorder in free

Buy Sony Bravia KDL40W4000 LCD HD Ready 1080p Digital Television, 40 Inch with FREE DVD/HDD Digital Box online at JohnLewis.com

If they match Richer on the Tv and throw in the Hdd too it's a bargain.

Although why they would do this as it's not like for like but obviously they have

Re: John Lewis Pricematch Table *Part 2*

If you check the John Lewis site, the DVD/HDD, delivery and warranty are all free, so I called and asked them to price match the Richer Sounds price on the TV, which they did without question and then asked if the DVD/HDD could be included as it was free, to which they replied "of course - it's free".

Otherwise, they could be taken to task by the trading standards guys as free would not have meant free!

As I said, there are a couple of excellent customer services people on the phone at JL Cribbs and they will be getting all of my business in future.

Once my package is delivered tomorrow, I'll be happy to give names and my undersell reference number by PM if anyone can't get the deal themselves.

Re: John Lewis Pricematch Table *Part 2*

I have just tried ordering the Sony KDL40W4000 from JL in Birmingham, only to be fobbed off with them saying they would need to add 10% of the Richer Sounds price of £679-95 to the price to cover the 5 year warranty, making £747 with no mention of the DVD/HDD

any idea of how I should respond when they get round to phoning me back?

never done this pricematch before,

Never heard that before, if you're doing it all by phone and getting delivery, just try another branch or ring them up again and you might speak to someone else.

They can't do that - they say the warranty is free. I've PMd you my undersales number which should guarantee the price with warranty, you should quote the JL.com deal to get the DVD/HDD.

You could try getting it from Cribbs...

TV and DVD/HDR both arrived, absolutely fantastic picture.

Now I just need to work out how to connect all my kit in optimally - what's the best connection for a standard SKY+ box?

I would quite like the reference number too, they won't give me the same deal as you got, only offering 120 off the same recorder, so it effectively costs £75 on top of the 680

glad your stuff arrived,

I,ve waited in most of the day waiting for a phone call from JL Birmingham store and even after phoning them again at lunchtime, they never called me back.

I,ve just got off the phone with Cribbs store in Bristol and they told me they cannot use the undersell number and each price match has to be done with every new inquiry,

now I have to wait for a call-back which they said could take up to 48 hours, guess it's time to cross my fingers,

I've just talked to my contact at Cribbs and she says it is still available the TV code is 82450111, the promo is 83701374 and price match to Richer Sounds. The offer expires Xmas eve. You will have to buy it and claim the undersell, but Cribbs have it at 799 basic so not too much of a risk.

Each pricematch is individual. Quoting someone else's reference really wont help.

This is correct, and is what i have always said...but people keep asking for reference numbers in the hope that they can use them for themeselves.
It is not John Lewis policy to allow this, because as you say, every price match is done on a one-off individual basis, unless it is a local pm and the branch price is also lowered, in which case everybody benefits.

There have been a very small number of people in the past that have said they have successfully used somebody else's pm to obtain their own. Now whether this has actually happened, and the circumstances behind it, i cannot comment on, but what i can say without any doubt is - price matching is done individually, it is against JL policy to allow people to share an individual price match at different times.

You can do it over the phone or by e-mail. The lower price will be checked, and if everything is ok, the difference will be refunded to you.
You have 28 days from your original date of purchase to apply.

John Lewis have offered me a price match of £699 for the Sony 40W4000, i'm hoping this comes with the free HDD recorder. It's £20 more than the RS price I asked for it to be price matched against, but I am tempted. I'll make my mind up on Boxing day incase of any price drops in the sales.

Re: John Lewis Pricematch Table *Part 2*

Can't say I'm happy with the service from JL Norwich - I'm trying to get them to PM the Sony 40W4000 too, against Richer Sounds Norwich who do have that model in stock for £679.95. The sales assistant in-store last Thursday was very helpful and reserved the 40W4000 and the free DVD recorder for me whilst placing the undersales request and said I should hear back before Christmas Eve. Since then I've not heard a thing - I phoned them today and they said they "might" be able to match the Richer Sounds price for the TV only but would not be able to offer the supposedly free DVD recorder (they said they'd contact JL Cribbs and confirmed the PM there, but the DVD recorder was not included in the sale). They were meant to ring back today with an answer but didn't. I understand they must be busy this time of year, but the service so far sucks - rude and very vague on the phone . Despite the offer now having expired in-store, I'm still crossing my fingers I might get a deal since I did place an order last week.

Re: John Lewis Pricematch Table *Part 2*

I'm Over the moon with John Lewis, Glasgow. I Walked into the store last Friday and found the Sony 46" w4500 on the shelf with a price ticket of £1169. I queried this with a sales assistant who checked the computer and said they were doing a price match ( looks like RS ). They were still offering the free 5 year warranty and also were doing a deal on the w4500 giving you £180 off a blue-ray player. So, for £1213 I got the Kdl46w4500 plus the S350 plus a 5 year warranty.

Seems when they do a price match they change the in-store price.
