Just hold your finger on the power on button for 5 seconds. (or more)
You will hear and additional beep and the PS3 will start with default video setting (576i I think) .

Re: Samsung R86/87/88 Owners Thread, Optimal Settings & Discussion

Bought my 37" R88 on 31st December 2007.

Been fine up to now but tonight I noticed that the right hand top and bottom corners have like a white light shining into the picture.

Is this the common with LCD's light leakage problem? Anyone else had it also.

It is plugged into Sky HD with HDMI and if I press standby on the HD box you can see it very clearly. After watching TV for a while it seems to go but with only 3 weeks of warranty left (unless Samsungs came with 2 year warranty, i'm not sure) then I ought to get this sorted.

I bought it from PC World. Should I return it to them as faulty within the 12 month warranty or do I need to contact Samsung direct?

Only problem is finding the reciept, although I can see the transaction fine on my Internet banking.

Question Re: Samsung R86/87/88 Owners Thread, Optimal Settings & Discussion

Hi guys I've got a LE32R8 which I've had for a few months now and it's great apart from a few niggely issues. I've had a look through some of the posts in this thread but I couldn't find anything related, and I couldn't phrase the issues adequetly in order to search for information so thought I'd just ask a few questions:

1. When flicking through the dtv channels with the < > channel buttons, is there any way to get it to automatically show some info on the programme that's playing without having to press info or go to the guide?

2. What is the current firmware for the tv/freeview and how do I upgrade it apart from leaving it on standby download?

3. Is there a way to display a source list without going through menu>input or pressing the source button which moves through them one by one?

Any info on the above would be really appeciated!

1. No

2. Digital TV Group | Retailers and Installers | Engineering Channel Download Schedule is where the latest downloads would be scheduled, no updates for a while, dont know exactly what the latest one is, possibly the one with the last 4 numbers being 1012.

3. No, it might be possible with a Remote control with discrete IR input.

Is there a macro function no the remote for the R88? Changing the channel from DTV to HDMI/Scart takes FOREVER!

Re: Samsung R86/87/88 Owners Thread, Optimal Settings & Discussion

right ive always wondered this, just thought maybe someone could clear this up for me. I have my samsung connected via hdmi to my pc as well at its native res, now for xmas im getting a blu-ray optical drive for the pc and wanted to know if i play a blu-ray film from my pc onto the samsung it self, will it be true 720p as its running at the resolution from the PC rather than say a direct blu-ray player would output over 720p/1080i/1080p. Would i in affect need to change resolution to a height of 720 pixels in order for this to be 'true' HD or would simple the software that is supplied (PowerDVD HD i think?) do the scaling process etc? thanks, Scott.

Re: Samsung R86/87/88 Owners Thread/Optimal Settings

I currently have this TV as obviously so do a lot of others here but would it be worth me upgrading to the LE40A656 if anyone is aware of it?

In terms of SD via Sky+ will there be an impovement, I know HD material will be better as it's 1080p.

I know there is a thread for that TV but what like all the opinions I can get.

Well in theory SD will look worse. Also please note that Sky HD is only in 1080i so it won't look any better either.

Blu-Ray for example should look better though as that's 1080p.
