FINALLY WORKING PROPERLY!

I've had the HDMI set to PC and the TV in game mode but always had obvious and major input lag, around 100ms or so I'd believe and it was driving me mad.

Oddly enough doing a factory reset fixed it. God knows why.

which firmware are you on? obviously a factory reset is necessary after each firmware update, a lot of users fail to realise that...

ahh, so thats why your tv does automatic update and not reset to factory settings, so LG is one of those not realising it, if they forget something as important as that after each update

i believe in this case, its an exception, but worth noting and testing if your viewing is troubled by poor lag updates on your recent firmware update.

That'll be the cause then. It always rebooted the TV so I assumed that was enough. At least it works now.

yes...you need 05.11.08 or earlier to enable THX, when you update after that THX stays..

Crashed

tv crashed today watching youtube and had to do a powered down using the plug.

it came back but now keep seeing a popup in home menu and prem menu and this is not on and looks very bad in your face advertising. is this popup the cause of the crash of the tv while viewing youtube menu.

tell you now we not interested in live sport of any kind.

and no the app for the live sports was not highlighted either.

Apologise if this is an old question but I haven't been on in a while.
A recent firmware update seems to have rendered my lw550t useless for playing .Mkv files either from plex or NAS, anyone have info on this ?

Thanks

Bobo....

Im on 05.12.05, media-player usb or dlna works great, avi, mpeg, mkv, mp4, etc... all ok

Your problem is not the TV, its your dlna server, Plex...You can try changing the data ending to .avi if .mkv isnt supported by your dlna server

I only use twonkey, best dlna server

Can someone confirm if the following only happens on my tv?

Everytime a HDMI input source changes resolution tv loses signal.

So for example when I start my PS3 it shows at 1080p. When I start a game it usually drops 720p and the tv loses signal. And it loses it for good not for 2-3 seconds what I have to do is to change input to something else like antenna and back and the picture appears.

This also happens with the pc when changing reso.

Off topic here guys, but I've just bought the LG LV550T & we're missing an accessory; the breakout adaptor that allows you to connect SCART & Component cables was missing from the package.

We're using an old Xbox360, so the component connection is the only way to get a high-def signal, and for our old SKY box, it's a SCART connection.

Is there anyone kind enough & willing to sell me their breakout-adpator?

Downgrade Firmware ALternative:

2- When the TV recognizes the FW, press ok to flash and let the TV finish the flash completely and restart
3- YOu can now flash newer firmwares, start with 05.01.10...
Hi, new to LG tvs and can't find out if these firmwares work on the lw650t as well. I'm trying to use the pvr & thx settings but I'm on the 05.12.05 firmware and the press 9 seven times trick won't work. Can you flash the wrong firmware on these tvs or do they check compatibility?

Cheers

H guysi.

Just got this TV and very happy with it.
I have been able to access the service menu and activated 3D THX.
I would like to activate the DVR but as i am on latest software the option is grayed out.

Q1. Will going to setup and highlight OPTION on left hand side. Press
9 seven times so it will rollback to previous version enable the DVR option again in the Service Menu, or
will i have to downgrade the firmware (which i am reluctant to do).

Q2. Is there normal PVR options available, like Series Link etc?

Thanks
Kenny

pressing "9" 7 times did not do anything.
pressing "4" 7 times brought up the software update menu.

is the magic downgrade to firmware 9.00

Once you've downgraded to 9.00 you can install any older firmware you want.
Now I need the good firmware from last winter which supposedly had the best iplayer and youtube compatibility...

EDIT: FIXED
After flashing 9.00 put the firmware of choice in the LG_DTV file and insert into usb port 1.
It'll tell you the fw 9.00 is newer.
Highlight option in menu and press favourite key 7x times and a new menu appears asking whether you want to update to fw on usb stick....presto
Now I've got fw 05.01.10

Thanks to the guys in the Polish forum for this fix...
I will try this tonight. Do you know if there is any recovery from this if it doesn't go as planned?

Video settings

I have changed the video settings to my optimal settings, and ensured that these are identical for each input.

However When using my external HDD, this installed itself with the preset vivid settings.

So I changed this to match my other settings (the option to change video settings only available when playing a recorded video, and not from the initial HDD menu screen).

Here it doesn't have the option for "expert 1" so I have to copy my settings to standard instead. However even if I do this the HDD menu screen remains too "cool" ie the whites are too blue, and it's irritating when the temperature of the white background changes like this.

Any ideas?

WARNING to users with tv in engineer mode

WARNING

if you previously installed the v9.0.0.0 firmware once. you would probably have been prompted to upgrade as a new firmware was found.

stupid me, i updated it and now i got v9.1.1.1 , which means that all older firmwares cannot be installed.
and no 7x 9 or FAV or any function seems to be able to get any older firmware install, no revert or anything.

so just in case you didnt already get the dummy firmware installed, i would stay away from it.

my tv is semi-locked, but i can still switch nordic settings and country but in general is pretty much locked to the fixes part of the 9.0.0.0 which seems to be close to the old v5.10.02 (rev59074) where 9.0.0.0 is rev59622 .

i do not really care, since im storing this in the bed room now. but i suppose others can benefit from knowing about the problem.
