Angry LG 47LW450U Audio Passthrough issue - help ?

Recently picked up an 47" LG 3d TV. I'm largely happy with it apart from 2 issues ..

1. Lipsync issues when playing MP4s from an external hard disk (no solution - just have to live with it...)

2. Audio passthrough doesnt work - which I'm hoping someone can help me with.

I have a PS3 and SKY HD box connected into an optical cable splitter, with a cable then running into the back of my amp (an ancient but much loved SONY all-in-one DAV550 DVD system). This works well, as long as I put one decive in standby whilst listening to the audio from the other.

So, I thought I could just connect the TV to the back of the AMP, and then it would stream the audio from whichever input I have selected to the AMP...

However the AMP only reports PCM audio, and never gets a Dolby Digital signal either from the PS3 or the SKY box. I know the config on the Sky box and PS3 are OK as they work though my old connections as described above.

A bit of googling has ensuring the audio out on the TV is set to "Auto", not PCM, but this seems to make no difference.

Anyone any ideas what else I could try ?

Assume you are connecting to TV via HDMI.
There is a Copyright Protection on HDMI input which will only allow 2 channel output from TV Optical Link for Sky and PS3.
You should get 5 channel from a Television Tuner, provided the Amp supports the audio output format and being broadcast in 5 channel.
You could try switch instead of splitter.

So if I have understood correctly, the TV will onyl ever be able to passthrough 2ch PCM from PS3 and SKY. And as it only has a normal freeview built in so wouldnt be able to supply a surround sound stream anyway ?

Thanks for the advice, I'll stick with my current setup - I'm happy with the limitation of having the PS3 on standby when watching sky and vice versa ...
