Yes it has a quite effective 2d to 3d mainly 3d with depth

This could be interesting then sammy20v.

Am i right in thinking the Sony models you have been through have been full array led backlit?

Mine (HX823) was top and bottom lit, be interesting to see how this HX853 fairs then as new ground for both of us.

Wonder how being left and right lit will effect banding as my HX823 had vertical banding visible on panning shots.

Main issue was the Crease however so hopefully that is long gone.

Don't go looking for faults for me. But the crease is easy to see. My understanding is it is now sorted for 2012 sets.

Great news on the banding front thanks.

Never seen clouding on bright images, only dark scenes with Led dynamic control off on my HX823.

Definitely no clouding on dark scenes it is inky black which makes it very cinematic for films best dark black I have seen would keep it for this alone

On light backgrounds it shows dark patches not sure how else to describe I wonder if this is the dynamic dimming not reacting correctly as my screen is next to a window with light flooding over screen in day light

A bit like a dull sky with small patches radiating from top of screen most noticeable on bt vision menus not that noticeable on normal viewing

Hi guys.
Those who game how is the response on this set? Is motion nice and smooth? No sense of input lag?

Seems a nice set for the price. Its this or the vt50.

Is it really £1800 full retail for the 55' Model? I expected it to be far more expensive. It's actually cheaper than Panasonics Flagship Plasma's

Hi some interesting stuff was just watching BBC weather SD quality managed for first time ever to see the joins of weather map very clearly this screen seem to have the ability to pick up every bit of detail without masking anything clearly my old plasma Samsung wasn't as accurate in showing background detail as clear

Any comments

As far as I am aware I asked the Sony guys about wall mounting they said that the tv would be mounted flat
It is only the stand mount that angles it 6 deg back hope this helps

Purely styling, as we are all rich and have ultra low furniture so the tilt angles it at the viewer. hm not in my living room.

Fear not.

Think it is deeper than the sets from last year by a cm to help with uniformity and banding apparently. Which sounds good to me, i was worried i was going to snap my last Sony.

Where is the cheapest anyone has found here.

Cheapest i have been told is £1499 from Hi Fi corner but unsure weather John Lewis will match this. They said no before to someone as HFC had no stock, but could find another excuse, cough cough reason.

That was myself who tried to get J.L. to price match £1499 ,as you said on the grounds of no stock, but that wont wash as of end of May when H.F.C get there stock, but as you intimated that J.L. will find another excuse to not price match, that has been my experience with J.L. just like Richer Sounds they will not match substantial price differences,T.S. should get them to with draw there price match banners when they do not adhere to it.

Ah sorry, forgot who it was.

Have you called hifi corner then to find out when they have stock in? It says available for in store collection on there website.

Ah just read it, stock available from late may.

Be interesting to see if they do.

I know of one member who got John Lewis to match here but only £100 off.

Sony KDL55HX853BU 55 Inch 800Hz 3D LED TV KDL55HX853BU - Televisions and TVs from Direct TVs

I tried to price match as well their response was that due the 5 year warranty only being available in store at hifi corner and that I lived far away from hifi corner that the deal was significantly different for them not too price match, I went with JL as I wanted the least hassle in exchanging the TV if it is no good.

Got me confused as well why they matched direct tv 1-it was£1849 on website you had to go in store to get the 1699 price 2- no free 5year guarantee, this should have meant no price match as J.L..say the offers have to match one another, and they offer a 5yr guarantee as part of their price,so makes no sense why they price matched, strange.
