From reading this review - Samsung ES8000 (LED) review - FlatpanelsHD as posted on the ES8000 thread, there is hardly any improvement in the quality of the picture to the D8000.

How much better would this TV (55 inch) look on the wall as opposed to on a stand? If I do wall mount I would need to use a cable management thing and hide the power cable, HDMI cable for bluray player and leave another hdmi cable for the PS3 (although for some reason the TV does not recognise my PS3).

It (the ES8000) has voice capability and supposedly future proof. But what good is future proof if it cannot actually upgrade the screen quality to potentially more than 1080p if and when that comes to pass. Afterall picture quality is the most important thing on a TV for me. I do not make use of the browser and other apps. Bt the picture quality on the D7000 which I have (and is the same as D8000) is just fantastic, especially the HD channels and any other HD output.

You need to reset your ps3 to default picture settings and then do the picture settings again for this tv (I'm assuming you've changed from a different tv to the Samsung). I can't remember how to do the reset though, I think you have to hold down te power button for a set number of seconds. I'm sure if you google it you'll find te instructions.

Guys, what do you use to clean the screen? Do you simply use the cloth that was supplied or do you also use some kind of spray beofre wiping? I am really hesitant in using any kind of spray solution for fear of leaving permanent marks on the screen.

Hi guys,

I'm studying Electronics Engineering and have to do a project for a specific course unit with a group of people and we are going to write about Smart TVs, specifically the D8000.

I don't know if anybody can help me with this question, but if someone can, I would really appreciate it. Who provides raw material to Samsung to build this Smart TV? In general, who provides stuff to the Samsung TV Department? Does anybody know or should I contact Samsung directly to get this type of information?

Thank you very much in advance.

Btw this forum is amazing.

Best Regards,

ShiftRock

controller issues.

Hi,

New to this forum, so firstly, thanks.

Love my d8000 but just started having problems with unresponsive remote, specifically the centre cluster. Batteries replaced - no change. The light bottom right of the panel illuminates correspondingly with the button presses, but ch list, guide, file scrolling etc. sometimes takes 15 odd button presses (and much restraint from not throwing remote through window). I have a small lounge so I don't think distance is an issue. I'm aware of some touch features on this cluster but haven't really worked them out. Is it me being a biff, or do I have a faulty tx/rx? Every other feature on the remote works fine, just left/right/up/down and to a lesser degree tools/info/return/exit.

thanks in advance.

Hi again. I'm being greedy and asking another question. I like to stream music through my d8000 to play on my sumsung 5.1. Is there a more user friendly app to 'surf' my 100gig of networked music collection that will also play all my music?

Also how do I turn on the screensaver (rather than wiat for time out) as I'm concerned with screen burnout?

thanks again.

40D8000 help needed!

Hi,
I Hope that someone can help me with a couple of issues/faults that my 40D8000 seems to have developed over the weekend. I've had the tv for about 7 weeks.

Firstly, the tv has developed a black tint/haze coming down from the top of the tv for about 2 inches. Then it stops. Its very weird. First time it happened i switched the tv off at the wall and turned it back on which seemed to do the trick. For a day!! Its now back and wont go away. Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this?

Secondly, the tv has twice gone through a cycle of switching itself off then back on again about 7 or 8 times randomly. Can't find much about this except for a video on youtube! No solution given though.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

My D7000 has firmware version: 001021.

If I request an online upgrade it says there is no software to upgrade?

If you want to upgrade to 1022.1 you have to download it and then put it on a usb stick.

Had same problem with last remote, within warranty so contacted Samsung by 'phone and they replaced it with one of the shiny silver ones. This was 2nd remote to be replace as first one had all the up/down etc paint rub off. Samsung were actually rather helpful!

Here is a lazy link for people like me, 55d8000 - Support for UE55D8000YU

130MB download @ 250KB/s, wow samsung with these download speeds you are really spoiling me

After upgrade the tv came back onto pc and i had to re-adjust pc setting to fit pc screen on tv properly. Just had to slide overscan option on my ati card to the left. The tv is burning my eyes, normally only have the backlight at 8, default is 15

I dont know if it is windows or comodo but it keeps popping up that the firmware is evil, delete or run away is 2 options it gives me.

Hiya just wanted to know if your guys could help me out? Im new to the site (but have been on before as a non member) I bought a Samsung 40" D8000 just under 8 weeks ago and it has now developed a fault. It has a purple/pink vertical line on the left hand side of the screen. it shows on all source channels and even on the "Samsung LED TV" start up screen. It stands out alot more when it has a darker background. I phoned Currys up told them about the fault and they said it was not there problem as it was out of the "28" day return period and that I would have to take it up with Samusung. So after phoning Samsung I was then told they would repair it for me or if I wanted it replaced it was down to Currys. So I phone Currys again and was then told I needed to speak to the manager of the store where I bought it from (I am waiting for a phone call from him this Monday) So what do you guys think I should do? Get Samsung to repair it (Can this kind of fault be repaired?) or try and get a replacement? But I thoughtt this tv had been discontinued? so even is Samsung cant fix it where do I stand?! sorry for the crazy long post but dont know what to do or say when he call tomorrow! PLEASE HELP!

Thanks for reading.

Ryan

Well, John Lewis sent out engineer from Martin Dawes to look at my TV after I complained about clouding and banding... They took my TV away and left me with a 32" Samsung as a 'courtesy panel' ...

They have had my TV for almost two weeks. Rang them on Saturday and they said that they have ordered a replacement 'panel' for it.... Anyone know if after this has been fitted whether it will likely remedy it?
I was concerned as most on here seemed to get straight swaps for a new TV and were getting through 2 or 3 whole new TV's.... Yet mine gets taken away to be taken apart and returned.
John Lewis say they only change the whole thing if it gets taken away for repair three times for the same fault and still doesn't get fixed...

Since loading 1023 I seem to get a picture jump every 5-10 seconds on any input or channel. Only thing I've not noticed it on is the Xbox in Game mode.

Have tried picture reset - but no different - tried lots of blur/judder settings - no difference.

Any suggestions?

How do I factory reset?

Does the D8000 have the Smart Hub HD interface? Like the ES8000 that is.
