Hi,

I'm interested in the 32" version of this model so am interested to hear what your first impressions are.

Where did you order it from? I was under the impression this model hadn't been launched yet, but that could just be the 32" version.

I've only had a quick play but my first impressions are:

SD picture is disappointing. My last TV was a Panasonic plasma which had a very good standard picture. The Samsung seems over processed even after adjusting the settings. Will try calabrate it over the weekend.

HD picture is stunning. Very happy.

3D Meh.....was never really bothered about 3D. Impressive though, looks very good.

Smart TV. Very clunky. Difficult to navigate the web. No apps of any value. No iplayer as yet.

Overall I am happy with the telly, glad I didn't go for the 6800 as this wouldn't have improved any of the issues I'm not happy with.

i find the setting from the ES7K/8K thread work well for SD pic on my 55" ES6800's, i was using the settings + movie mode but applied same settings to standard mode and like those better. agree with you on 3D, not even got the glasses out of the boxes yet might do one day when i get some 3D content.

SMART TV, agreed iPlayer is of interest when its out but all the other apps i don't care about...got an iPad for that kind of stuff. I will say that one thing i do use is the DLNA capability and i've definitely noticed the dual-core setup *seems* to make that experience very good. accessing pictures etc from my NAS box is VERY fast compared to my old set and that's as SMART as i need the TV to be

overall...happy as well does what I need a TV to do. personally i think given the kind of content we get to watch (mostly SD) until there is a full selection of HD channels then its always going to be a compromise.

Thanks for the update.

I'm hoping to see one instore somewhere soon to see for myself, but everywhere I've asked have said they're not expecting any stock in yet. It'll be interesting to hear if you do manage to improve the SD picture at all.

I got my ue32es6300 earlier today, so heres a quick review of what i've found so far.

Build quality of the stand is pretty poor, very plastic and flimsy, same with the plastic at the back of the set. The picture quality is pretty good on standard def (does need a bit of tweaking) and very good on HD. Motion handling leaves a lot to be desired, the 100hz doesn't quite seem to cut it, but I haven't played with the custom motion processing options yet, only the defaults so some possible improvements there. Theres no judder to the overall picture like you would get on the es5xxx (50hz) but it can fall apart around the edges of fast motion (top gear in HD was a good demo of that)

I haven't been able to get it to play well with MKVs as of yet, I'm not sure if it's listed whether it will support them over DLNA or not, or if it will support a h.264 in a different container. I'm trying a different DLNA server (was getting bored of TVMObiliy trying to be too helpful, I may have to get my DLNA server transcoding to a different format if it wont play from a differnet server as well (if anyone is interested in how that pans out just let me know and i'll go into more detail)

All in all i would say I am very happy with the set, it has good black levels, colours can be adjusted to look very natural, interface is pretty and easy to use, streaming and wireless access is easy and responsive.

-Turtle

edit: after switching to a different DLNA server .MKV's are now absolutely fine!

I'd also like to know if I plays Mkv from USB , and most importantly do you have any banding ? trying to narrow down what to exchange my lm620t for as the third set suffers from banding like the rest.

Plays some mkv files but not all, seems newer ones work. No banding but some clouding.

Hi there, I am very happy with the 40" set I've had for the past couple of weeks. Yes, there is some clouding on the bottom right of the screen which you can see when viewing a very dark scene - but this is the nature of backlit TVs (especially for people who keep the backlight past half power, which isn't necessary except when viewing in direct sunlight..!) and it certainly isn't a major problem. I'm already used to it, to be honest.

Not quite calibration, but I did try a few settings suggested by people across various forums. However, most people have the contrast and, as mentioned above, the backlight up far too high. In my opinion, forget calibration - forget even looking at the number scale as you adjust - and simply adjust each setting in turn to what you think looks preferable. You'll be surprised; my backlight is on 8 and contrast at 78 (brightness 45, I think) which is much lower than many people are running their sets. And it works for me.

I also bought the new integrated blu ray/5.1. Initally there was some frame drop/skipping (not judder) but last weekend's update is now downloaded and it seems to have fixed the issue, as far as Euro pulldown can be fixed.

One of the best things about this set though is the Smart TV element - not the built in apps which are largely useless, but the iPhone apps available to 'bounce' YouTube videos etc direct to the TV. I was truly amazed with the quality and the speed by which this worked.

Lol very true, so it looks like I have a choice of banding (lg) or clouding (sammy)

I think the clouding on mine is pretty bad and ill post some pics tomorrow for a second opinion. But dark scenes are ruined for me when watching at night and im gonna send mine back for a replacement.

There must be some perfect ones out there, has anybody got a cloud free set?

Hi guys, first post so be gentle basically i'm running on a phillips lcd that i've had for about 5 years, and i'm after something bigger and better. I've seen this tv in Richer Sounds for about £667 which seems a decent price, problem is i can't find any real reviews on it, so i'm after peoples opinions.

I would be using the tv for watching sky+ hd and dvds and a lot of gaming (Xbox 360), has anyone tried it with a console, is there any input lag, does it handle fast motion like football, motorsports well? Also whats the 3D like, does it handle it well and any crosstalk?

What's the 3D like on this set? Tbh my main use would be Gaming - ps3 / 360 , blu rays Sky Hd with some minimal SD content. And 3d now and again.

Can anyone with 46" model say if the clouding is a major issue/ distraction and confirm no banding?

I need to make a decision for tomorrow when I can take the LG back , I think it's last chance saloon as they are bound to get sick of me that will be 4 sets in a few weeks lol so the next one has got to be right.

Think mine's before ambilight lol, its a 32PFL5522D. Its a 32" hd ready lcd but its been spot on, like you say well built, never had any problems with it, never noticed any picture issues. Which does make me weary with new tv's because all i read about is ghosting, clouding, motion problems, dodgy blacks etc. But i want bigger, full hd and 3d which this Samsung seems to tick all the boxes.

Right firstly thanks JOsborn, I spent a while fiddling with the picture settings following yours closely. I am extremely happy with the results, I watched Batman begins this afternoon and the dark scenes were stunning, the blacks are so black and the detail stood out very well. Not the best PQ for a blu ray but I fancied it at the time. I have just watched a few scenes from saving private Ryan and casino royale, utterly amazing PQ, I'm in love with my set. I noticed the clouding when I first used it but now that I've calibrated the set it is no longer noticeable to me at all. The 3D is just awesome, i watched Tin Tin with my girlfriend on wednesday this was before calibration and we were both blown away, very excited to test it again tomorrow to see the improvements. Overall I highly recommend this TV, I could not be more happy with it. Here are my picture settings if anyone wants to try them out:

Picture mode Dynamic - Backlight 8 - Contrast 80 - Brightness 45 - Sharpness 70 - Colour 56 - Tint 50/50

Picture options:
Colour tone Cool - DNF Auto - MPEG NF Auto - HDMI black level normal - Film mode Off - LED motion plus On

Ill have another fiddle tomorrow see if it improves it, I did notice this when I was typing it down and thought it was a little too high. Cheers.

i was gonna post pics of my clouding, but it asks for a url, do i need to host the pics somewhere before i can put them on here?

i agree with what others have said , the quality of the image in 2d and 3d is fantastic once you fiddle with the settings , only thing spoiling mine is a lot of clouding, ive read that clouding can go after about 100hours use. Anybody know if this is correct?

Thanks I'm coming round to the idea this is the set to swap for. I have a bit of clouding in the corner of my lg but it's the banding that's killed an other wise great tv.

No issues with the active glasses, flickering or anything?
