BBC iPlayer was good now constantly buffers LG LW550t

One of the best features for me on this tv was the bbc i player but for a week or so now I have had a problem.
It starts as normal - buffers for 10 or so seconds but then will only play for about 10 mins and then constantly buffers for 10 seconds and plays for 10 or so seconds, by forwarding a bit I get a bit longer viewing until it starts the buffering cycle again. I use a hard wired connection to my router and my broadband is around 9mbs.
The I player used to run perfect all the way through with only one buffering at the start

You don't give any indication to what hardware you are referring to.

Exactly the same problem here on an LG 50PK590 plasma using the built-in LG Netcast BBC iplayer. Played flawlessly up until the past few weeks, now constantly buffering. Hard wired to my router via homeplugs (house wiring).

When i run iplayer on my netbook to the tv via RGB cable - no buffering. Restet the plugs to no avail. Summats wrong somewhere and i don't think it's any of my gear.

BBC iplayer buffering and very bad lip sync problem

Same here watched Sport Relief part 1 and took forever to load. Quality was really bad but sound was way off. Running latest firmware. What is going on? Works fine on my iPad no sync problems. Can I roll back to an earlier firmware?

Exactly the same here too. LG LD790- worked perfectly on HD up until a few weeks ago now even radio buffers. Contacted LG who said plug in a USB memory stick to increase the tv memory (!!??! - doesn't work! Can't believe it ever would though happy to be corrected.), contacted BBC who said contact LG! The more people who report the fault to the BBC then the more likely they are to investigate it so everyone please log a fault on the iPlayer website.

Ditto

I have had exactly the same experience. BBC iPlayer worked fine up to 6 weeks or a month ago but now it plays for 10 minutes then comes up with the same 'Buffering' message and just hangs there. I've pressed pause and left it for 20 minutes or so just to see if this works but it doesn't make any difference. It plays for another 5 minutes and then stops again with the same message.
I seem to remember that we had this same problem about 18 months or so ago when iPlayer was first launched on Netcast. A new version of Netcast seemed to resolve the problem and it had been fine since then but alas no longer.....

Update
I managed to watch two 1 hour iplayer program all the way through the other night. Bad news tho, was that it was Orbit with that Kate Humble.
Anyway fingers crossed.
I am with talk talk and have reported the problem on those forums but no one there has had the problem, so its not my router settings. which anyhow worked perfect for 6 months. I am still well under my gb download limit too so it is not that.
Could you post here where we log the fault with BBC

For reporting to BBC got to https://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co....orms/emailPage and select report a fault from the drop down.
Update on my tv: Still got the problems though LG now tell me that they don't support apps such as iplayer and I should contact the BBC - thanks LG, great customer service...

Ok. Problem has been reported to the BBC on the link above. I've tested everything at my end and it all checks out fine. Internet speed direct from the router to TV is 5.08mbps which should be more than enough to avoid these issues. Clearly a problem with the TV. LG next on my list to call.

Thanks

Why is iPlayer buffering on Freesat?
Search iPlayer Questions

If you're experiencing buffering or poor performance of iPlayer on your Freesat receiver, please get in touch with us using the 'Contact Us' form below.

We'd particularly like to know the make and model of your receiver, the name of your ISP, and whether or not you have a problem viewing on other devices (such as laptops) using the same connection.

I've had a reply after reporting this to the BBC Iplayer email helpdesk. Quite unhelpful actually. They say that because my 18 month old TV is not on their list of iplayer approved and tested devices they are unable to help. I must contact the manufacturer - which as explained earlier I have done, they too don't want to know and blame my 5.08mbps internet connection.

watched len goodman on the titanic - run perfect
then had a go at the hairy bikers germany- same proplem, 10mins in, then constant buffering.
Could it be that the 1st program that ran perfect was only a 1/2 one and the problem hairy bikers was an 1 hour one.
Both were watched last night/ today at 1am, isp is talktalk

Hi,

Spotted this thread and thought I'd pitch in. I have a LG LE4900 and have the same iplayer issue. I have talktalk as an ISP with about 18mb broadband and yet my iplayer on the LG netcast buffers after about 10mins and just stays like that. It makes no difference if the connection is wired or wireless or if I use high or standard quality iplayer. It worked fine for months until about mid February. I have reported it via the BBC ipayer site. Their reply said as the TV is not on the list of officially support LG tv's they can't help and to contact LG. No reply from LG support so far.

Looking around the web there appear to be a few other reports of this problem from other LG and Sony users. It appears to coincide with the time that the BBC launched a bunch of new features to support android and iOS devices – this could just be a coincidence however!

The issue appears very similar to the one that hit people last January where changes to the BBC akami / CDN caused a bunch of problems.

Phin

I have the same problem which also started a few weeks ago -iPlayer never missed a beat until then, now it is almost unuseable. I am also using LG Netcast and TalkTalk, is everyone using TalkTalk? or are other ISP's affected

Got a useless reply from BBC
Dont think they even read my report email.
Going to send another one

Thank you for contacting the BBC iPlayer Support Team.

I understand you've had some trouble with video quality when playing programmes through BBC iPlayer.

There are a number of reasons why this may be occurring and I've included some links below which might provide useful tips:

BBC iPlayer - Help - Why am I told I have 'insufficient bandwidth'?

BBC iPlayer - Help - How do I improve performance when streaming HD video?

I hope this helps you resolve the issue and once again thanks for taking the time to contact us.

Kind Regards

As above. iPlayer faultless on media PC but stutters and buffers after 10 mins on LG Netcast. Now unusable. Pity as it was one of the reasons for going for this model of TV. I am on TalkTalk too and normally have an 8mb solid connection when downloading.

This is looking we all have exactly the same problem and its looking like we are all on talktalk.
Anyone out there with these symtoms that are Not on talktalk i wonder.
Also out of interest which router do we with problems use. I have the Huawei HG 520 that talktalk supplied.
I do not use wireless.
Am well under my usage
Does not matter what time of day I try a program

I use a Linksys router WAG200G (couldn't be bothered setting up Talktalk's freebie wireless box) and a wired connection to the LG tv.

A month ago it was perfect on my bravia TV and had been for 18 months but in the last month or so it buffers constantly. It's fine on my PC and I pass all the diagnostics on the iplayer website.

Using a Netgear DG834gt router and on TalkTalk for my ISP.

Same problem. LG TV, Talk Talk Broadband

Same issue, until early March all was fine with BBC I Player, now 5 to minutes works fine followed by constant annoying buffering. My wife wants to get rid of the Telly but we only bought it in January.

I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has made any further progress with the issue.

From looking at the posts in this thread - it looks like everyone having problems is on TalkTalk, please post if this is not the case, according to Offcom TalkTalk have 19% of the broadband market so based on this I would conclude that the problem must be with TalkTalk as you would expect problems with BY / Sky / Virgin etc

On another forum TalkTalk members are discussing DLM changes by TalkTalk in February (not sure what this is) maybe a red herring but possible cause! It seems some change has taken place affecting LG and possibly Sony integrated iPlayer but doesn't affect iPlayer on a PC.

Are you refering to the talktalk forums as I am a member there but can not find info on the DLM change which you talk about if it was in mid feb then that would line up with the problem. Here is info on what DLM is Dynamic Line Management and the talktalk forum about the iplayer is here

You did not say but I bet that you are with talktalk.
Its looking more and more like talktalk and not the tv. Although it is the tv as it is a problem between the two.
Over on the talktalk forum the OCEs as they are called (they work for talktalk -sort of like dave on these lg forums), but they can alter your settings on your broadband from their end and I think turn off DLM.

Can't recall the thread but I think it was a talktalk forum where the tech guy said the DLM had been altered in Feb, but from the thread it was unclear if it was for that particular customer or a general change, if it was a general change it maybe a cause
