connecting TV - HIFI

Pretty straightforward on my old tv

had a 32" sony bravia S series Connected to my sony hifi ( HCD-XG500 )

VIA av leads and worked.

I decided to hook to the hifi up to my LG 32LW450U via same means as i did with the Bravia and i cannot figure out why it wont work iv tried every option hifi and what sound options there are on the tv to no avail

im hoping some one may have the solution on here

thanks

When i had it connected to bravia i used the white and red av wires in av socket connected to game av sockets on hifi

and worked on HDMI channels, i was getting tv sound and hifi sound at sametime while playing ps3 etc

on this lg tv i cannot work out why it wont work using the same method as before?

It doesn't work because your LG Tv does not have audio out RCA sockets
The sockets you've used on your Tv are inputs not outputs.
You'll need to use the headphone out (if it has one) using a 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 phonos lead.
If it doesn't have a headphone out it probably has an optical out and you'd need an optical to analogue audio convertor which are available for around £30-£40.

My LG don't have headphone socket, assume LG don't supply them.

Can he get scart to phono adapter and use that for Tv outpt To his amp?

Will Only be stereo depends on his budget.

Some LG models have a headphone out, some don't.
Some LG models output analogue, some output Freeview and some don't output anything.
They're all different.

If the Scart is not input only.

Thet certainly do, but do we know that OP's TV has optical audio out to make use of one?

Ti my mind, if the O/P has £200.00, he only need spend £40 ish for an optical to analogue converter off EBay.

Never used one from there so no idea how good. I used a creative labs multi-converter with very good results from my Toshiba LED

Most expensive choice to be made, update speakers but will they be any good?

Cheaper is buy converter - but same issue.

Try and future proof to some degree. Something like Denon 1312. Has 3D throughput and HDMI 1.4 ARC ( not required now)
and Optical and Coaxial Input. Available £199.
