Any particular scenes? I've already skimmed through that disc to check out black levels etc and didn't notice anything then.

Hmmm. just a thought.

I was thinking about that bug since it was reported. Maybe, just maybe it IS caused by noise reduction option. I don't say Matty and Sticky didn't try to switch it off... but what if it's a firmware bug and it CANNOT be switch off, despite whatever is shown on screen, ie ON or OFF?

It would explain why not everyone can see that. maybe it's a matter of firmware version. Or model and firmware version.

The trailing (probably due to overdrive) seems to be undisputable. But I cannot believe noone at LG R&D have seen that, nor that they DID see that and released faulty and unrepairable product.

Call me naive, but it's strange for me...

No,
Dark night was confirmed as being a bad example as it displays little to no trails (sticky mentioned this in post 7 of the 960 thread).

You should all read that three for examples.

The best example is Harry potter and the goblet of fire labyrinth scene as posted by sticky as its very poor.

@barb
Can you make sure you post the same scene that sticky posted,
And Press ok/info on the remote to display the OSD displaying 1080/24p on the both videos

At the guys saying the 670 etc are the same, if you read marks review his specs confirm that he tested these settings enabled and disabled and sticky tested the 670 too with the noise reduction enabled and disabled .

My opinion is try before you buy as currys etc can be Very arsey to return too :smashing:

If that works for the 760 that's a bonus for 760 users but it doesn't work for 960 users of 670 users it's just good to k ow this now exists on the 760 too

Matty,
Ok will do, I just did a view of that scene with noise reduction turned on and it is the worst trails I have ever seen!!! Is there a way to get the info to stay displayed up on the top of the screen? I had to press the button every time it went off.

Nibbo68 ~ Perhaps if you have Pirates of the Caribbean films? There is some dark scenes on there and also Sweeney Todd. From what I've seen testing this it is best to see on fast moving dark scenes. My husband watched Dark Knight the other night and noticed slight trailing issues but I don't know which scenes as I haven't seen it yet. I had not calibrated the set then so the noise reduction was turned on that night he watched the film.

Ok. I have all the Pirates of the Caribbean films and Sweeney Todd so I'll have to give those a spin. Does it matter which level of nr you have it switched to or not. Watching Hugo in a bit so might have to be later on or over the weekend.

Are we talking standard DVD films with Harry potter etc? Or from a USB stick? Or is it just 24p blu ray that has the issue?

Great, I look forward to hearing your results I put noise reduction on high, I'm not sure if anything happens when it's lower so I will have to try that as well.

I have just setup a brand new 47LM760T from currys for my parents after collecting it today and thankfully there were no sign of the trails in darks scenes either.

Here was what I did first before doing anything else other than the magic remote setup:

Updated it to the latest firmware, turned off noise reduction and MPEG noise reduction on all inputs (its enabled by default on all HDMI ports and you have to disable it across each) then tested out Sky HD in 2D across most channels, 3D from recordings such as Lion King, Meerkats etc. Then 24p blu-rays Pirates of the Caribbean and the darker Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - no streaking or trails in any of these films at all.

Didn't even bother turning noise reduction back on to see if they turn up after that as it was all working perfectly. Can't comment on gaming as it was my parents TV and they don't have the consoles there.

Looked excellent, very easy to setup. Blacks were no where near as bad as some reviews reported, least not to my eye but I'd guess thats a personal preference. 3D was hands down the best I've seen on a TV, Lion King really stood out and my father who never tends to get impressed by much really liked it too.

Will try out some other titles when I go back round theirs tomorrow but all in all, I saw no streaking or trails....that isn't to say that I don't believe anyone who has them and can't get rid of them is lying either before those with a full blown hate against LG jumps in and starts up!

Hi martd

Sorry for the delay, been offline a few days.

The lag on the wii was ONLY with 2d>3D conversion.

I have had to reformat my pc so i cant check any games for lag

BUT on a good note i have now got a Synology DS710+ and installed the Plex server and it works a dream. Tried all types of file formats that I have and everything has played without a glitch. (shame it cost me an extra £500 to get it all setup)

Hi martd

Yes very happy with it

I have watched movies/sports/general sky/sd-hd and not had any issues with the set. Also on credits etc the screen is black not grey and there is no haloing around the white text.

I dont look for problems on the TV so maybe i missed something, the ONLY thing i will say against it is its like a dam mirror at times, i can wave to the wifeeee in it and she waves back lol

Ha ha. That's not a problem, the ES6800 is quite reflective and our plasma was pretty bad before that.
Cheers mate

BarbWire or any of you that have calibrated your tv, please could you post the settings that you found good.

The reflections of the tv I find pretty annoying. I have'nt any BR player and probably are gonna use it to watch TV and DivX movies shared from the puter some BR ripped so my guess is that Im not gonna be bothered with the 24p problem (yet)

Another update. Went to parents for a few hours to try out more films and this time took the ps3 too. Tried the following films with yet again no sign of any trails in 2d, 3d, 24p or 50/60hz.

The Dark Knight
Star Wars revenge of the sith
Ice age 3 3d
Legend of the guardians 3d and 2d
Megamind 3d
Rango

Gaming I tried uncharted 3 which can be dark, too dark too without settings adjusted on the game input. Also tried god of war 3 and rayman origins. No sign of any major lag that would cause me any gaming issues, especially with a platform game like rayman where times jumps are vital. Again this was setup in specific game mode

Watching Sky again no sign of any issues other than lip sync which I adjusted

Sometimes found gaming too dark, but adjusted the black level which seemed to improve it. Like to know others game settings.

Hi All, bought a 47" LM760T from Currys and unfortunately it's going back tomorrow. The amount of backlight bleed on both top corners in unbelievable!
It' a great tv and the 3d is awesome but i can't live with blb on a £1400 tv....

How many of you have this problem? It becomes mor apparent when you load something like bbc iplayer and the loading screen is showing.

Hi have you updated to latest firmware ( 03.03.50 ) and lower backlight
to around 75 this should reduce or even remove backlight bleed.

hope this helps.

Thanks Jono, I have updated the firmware and reduced backlight but is still there.

I might be wrong here but i thought backlight bleed is a screen defect and not something you can fix with firmware?

I have had the same problem as you and I'm on my third tv because of this, the second one was the worst EVER! My third one isn't perfect as you could see a teeny bit in the top left corner but I have managed to make that invisible now by calibration, I only have my backlight on 50 and the black levels setting on high wipes out the bleed completely but can make the blacks rather grey so it isn't for everyone. Also I find that LED Local Dimming on Low helps as well. If you still have bleed after trying these settings then I would most definitely return but be warned that its really hard to get a perfect screen.

My complete calibrated settings ~

Picture Mode - Expert1

Backlight - 50

Contrast - 100

Brightness - 64

Sharpness - 30

Colour - 65

Tint - 0

Dynamic Contrast - Medium

Gamma - 2.2

Colour Temperature - Medium

Turn all noise reduction off as you will get trails if you don't!

My calibration settings are probably too grey black for some of you but this is how I prefer them as I like to see detail in blacks and I watch a lot of dark films :-)

Right... on my 3rd 47" LM760T from Currys and I'm very disapointed with this TV, I've had backlight bleed on all of them! Currys have been ok about it and when I left the store with my 3rd set they said they would be happy to give me my money back should this set be the same.

Unfotunately it is, it has bad backlight bleed on all corners, this is my first LED and i wasn't expecting this! Have you all have it too? Did you reduce the backlight to make it less obvious???

I 2 LCD's at home and while they do have some BLB it is nothing like this....
