That's confusing - 6.4.Z4.1 dates from June 7th, 6.4.Q1.1 from July 3rd. The Z should be a P. As for me, the Q1 version eliminates the black line flashes.

Not had a lot of time for TV lately so I cant say for sure but it looks better in the parts that I have watched. However really worryingly (and annoyingly) - my Blu Ray player picture keeps dropping out, I have to disconnect the HDMI cable and plug it back in again to see it again!! Screen just suddenly goes black as if its off but the green light etc is on.

It could be my player I guess but it was fine before these last upgrades - anyone else getting any problems with HDMI kit?

In my case an intermitant black screen but I could still hear the sound. Changing the channel generally fix it. I got so sick of installing new firmware they swapped it out for TL963. Wifi is still rubbish on TL963 which is a shame.

New set!

Hi Everyone, just got my new set and found this forum so thought id post my query. I got the set for £384 in Currys / PC World and as it was a display set, managed to get even more off! I reset the tv from store settings etc, but am having trouble setting it up for a decent picture! Ive the post on page 21 saying use
Brightness 10
Contrast 85
Colour 0

But when i use these the picture is very garish! highly coloured, dark etc etc. I have set to "home" and using normal. I find the best settinsg so far are

Brightness 25
Contrast 60
Colour -8

However i am still finding that items like police HV vests and vehicles really are extremely bright green, but other colours are ok? have i got something wrong, or is this just how the screen displays HV style clothing?

My picture is virgin cable from a Tivo using HDMI.

On another note as i see someone asked, i emailed support to ask why the you tube application doesnt allow you to watch side by side 3d, and I have been told the 3d mode can not be operated from within the you tube app. However i have used my ps3 slim to view you tube and can get 3d working this way! Im set to auto start 3d, but using the ps3 i still had to prsss the button and select SBS to view you tube.

Any commenst gratefully accepted. Great set though so far! Not using speakers as i outout via optical to a surround sound 5:1.

Thanks

Hello all, I'm on my 4th TV! I had the TL868 originally but this was awful, since been sent 3 other TVs but all had some kind of fault. I have now been offered VL963 so going to give this a go. This has been going on since Feb and I'm at witts end!

3d problem. Last night watched opening ceremony in 3d (via skyhd) no probs. now every time today I press 3d button, and select 3d, the side by side/top and bottom screen freezes and the remote is unresponsive. Pic behind screen is 3d but I can't close the message via remote.

Any one had this?

I also double checked 3d bluray and it was fine this morning.

Had the 46inch version of this for a few weeks now, had no problems. The only issues being the SD picture quality isnt that good and the sound is a bit tinny. I only tend to watch bluray anyway through ps3 and using a reciever for sound so its no issue.

Nice HD picture quality, good solid remote, quality solid glass stand, freeview and freesat(even tho only advertised as freeview) built in, seems good value for £500.

When you say "whats is with the juddering" is this something you have reported.

I reported it to Toshiba and they said, its not a problem with the firmware, no one else has reported it with the new z firmware. all should be ok blah blah

If you are having juddering too please report it.!!

Then we can get them to sort this too!

They wanted to get an engineer out to look at my TV. Frankly I cannot see them finding anything wrong. Its a firmware issue.

i purchased the 46SL863 tv last week and am still getting to grips with it, i started with the dark knight on bluray 1080p and was not impressed with the picture quality even after going through every picture mode. my main problem with this tv is basically toshibaplaces. i cant seem to create or attach an account for a toshiba id. i started by creating one, didnt work, i then went online with my laptop and created on succesfully but was unable to attach an account on the tv again. when i tried to restart the process it stATED an already registered email address was in use and i could send an email to edit or delete the account which i did but still had an error message. the problem is ive searched online for the same probelm but only had 1 other person reply to my query saying he could not connect to toshibaplaces on his either. any help would be great

Hi everyone.

Picked this TV up cheap from M&S, fine for a week but now it's doing the whole fading to black thing, though sound can still be heard. Tried playing with energy saver options and nothing.

Has anyone resolved this? Maybe with firmware? Or is it going to have to go back?

Thanks!

Help with satellite tuning please

Tried to tune into "Freetoair" satellite services on Astra 19.2E but it does not seem to pick up some channels.

Also there is no satellites listed for e.g. Eurobird 9E etc which I know have some free to air channels.

I am a total beginner so any help appreciated.

p.s. What is the difference between "clear" and Free to air?

I have spoken to them today. For the juddering, they say an engineer needs to come out and have a look to see why it is happening.

Rubbish

Just signed up after finding this forum googling my TV model, and thanks to the member who posted the new firmware update, I had no idea there was even a new one, mine was updated to March 2012 and said no new firmware available

The update has improved the hollywood 1 and 2 settings, I didn't have the set long enough or play around enough with it to notice any bugs that are mentioned here other than the tearing, but that seemed to be mainly when I had a menu onscreen at the same time as a channel was playing, the lower quarter looked like games with no vsync do when you look left and right

Anyway, thanks for the info Enjoying my new tv, image is amazing coming from an old 28" CRT !

Also appreciate the guys who mentioned gamer mode, I was wondering why there was a huge lag with PC input until I switched to gamer mode

Is there a manual setting I can change to reduce lag on other display modes too or is that a preset thing only for gamer ?

Been away for three weeks so not been posting but I have also had the "juddering" - it's like part of the picture moves indepentantly of the rest right?

I've reported to Toshiba too before I went - will pick it up again with them now I'm back

Did this start after you applied the black ripping issue.

Toshiba told me they had had no reports about this after the firmware update.

Also i have noticed the TV takes a while to come off standby, press the red button and perhaps 5-10 seconds?

Was it like this before?

Does anyone know if there is a way to save personal settings with this TV ?

I have flashed the July FW linked here, but I had to move the TV the other day and when I plugged it back in, it had lost everything I had done to the settings and I had to set it back up again

Yes the juddering started after the Z FW that was supposed to sort out the black line issue. Still not had time to watch much TV in the last few weeks to see how its doing now

Interesting point about the standby and I think you are right that its taking longer to do this now - to the point where i start wondering if I pressed the button
