I still find it horrendously difficult to decide the best picture for myself
As you are still trying settings, just try to put in all of my settings (including color and white balance adjustments. Blue is undersaturated by default in the movie mode and I adjusted it slightly in mu colour space. If than you are still not satisfied, try going with the main color slider to 51 or 52 instead of mine 49.

Let me know if it works out.

One last thing: everyone has to do what he or she likes most when adjusting his TV, but going from the industry standard the 'cool' temperature is the least accurate of them all. Just saying...

thanks mate will give that a go. But does changing a setting like color by 2-3 really make a difference! If so, i can not tell at all until atleast i change a setting by 5-10.

Any idea why Blue is undersaturated so much that it appears washed out?

Im currently finding the Natural settings to be the best and find it to be the one i use the most, i have your settings saved in Movie Settings with a few changes to some settings but ive saved your RGB and color/white space settings, but i just dont seem to be using it much for games and movies. If you want i can post some pics to see how it compares between Movie and Natural.
In Natural I am just loving the colors especially when watching a animated bluray like Despicable Me! As all the colors seem real, but when in movie they just seem washed out.

I wonder if he would have access to controls that would help reduce the backlight bleed in corners or the edge of the screen a lot of owners have.

Great to hear! Very curious to them as I am far from a pro ;-). When you will have him over?

Yesterday saw some things on the picture which didnt seem right, a very slight green tint in some dark scenes. But not sure, will try to sort that out the next days. Will also aim for a slightly higher brightness of 130 cd/m probably.
Calibrating the game mode is giving me a hard time.

Who are you getting to calibrate your set? I would love to know, thinking about it myself.

thanks for those settings. Will try those later today, do you use them only for watching films or games also? How are the colors in this setting do you see good natural colors or mostly washed out colors?

thanks

Just tried those settings, look pretty good to me. Colours are nice and bold again, particularly the blue making the sky menus look much better.

Okay guys, I went over my last calibration as I told earlier and in the end did it almost all over. So quitte some changes, also aimend for a higher light output to find a nice dark/bright room balance (brightness is now at 130 cd/m against 121 cd/m in the previous settings).

Thanks mate, I will try these out either when I get home from work tonight or when I wake up in the mornng.

For some reason I still can't seem to access HDMI Black Level, It is just stuck on Normal. Also looking at the AVS Forum it appears they have more settings to adjust like Cinem blacks etc

Problem I had as well in dark scenes with my first posted settings (one page back). The Sammy white balance seems to be very sensitive when it comes to green. My new posted settings above don't have that problems anymore (or at least for me that is).

Right I am officially stumped, the only HDMi Source I can amend the Hdmi Black level settings is my PS3 all my others (TiVo, BD, HD DVD, XBox) it is greyed out and set as Normal. Considering on the PS3 side it seems to make an huge difference I am worried I am getting a lesser pic on all other inputs

Still getting used to this advanced calibration, my meter, the discs and the software. Next one however which I will post will bemmy definite for a couple of months (things as motion plus and the 3D adjustments a side). Just to let you guys know..

Sent from my iPhone using AVForums

EDIT: @DJtobyward, are those your mates? professional calibrated settings?

I have to admit these new settings have changed my set entirely. It is single handedly masked some of my issues that I am exchanging the set due to. The settings are defo better that your last and I thought those were best, I just wish I could do the calibration myself so I can modify these to my own set, but unfortunately I don't have the kit.

I am gonna add though that I have actually changed a few things. I lowered the back light to 7, changed black Tone Dark, turned on Motion lighting as well as LED motion Plus. to me this works so I am very pleased.

Keep up the good work!!! We all owe you a lot mate, I LOT!

I'm still going to go for the exchange but i now know that as long as the new one is not worse than the current one then I will most likely be happy. I am just hoping it won't be worse The thing is I now know where all the flaws are ad I will just keep spotting them and let it wear me down. At the best the new one will be just as bad and because I have found some good settings I hope to calibrate before I notice the flaws and hope I never do

Okay guys here are the latest settings. Curious if you will find these an improvement over the ones posted yesterday. These are my final for at least a couple of months. No major changes from the second one, but definitely advice you guys to try these as there are some improvements in the colour space I think and it has a rock solid gamma between 2.22 and 2.25. Thanks for the kind words and enjoy your sets! If there are any question I will be happy to help!

I will be going to see the 46" / 55" this coming week in store. Just in case (I'm presuming they haven't changed them) it still has factory settings, what would be the best settings for in store i.e. very bright? Thanks

Did you know that if you turn Motion Plus off the moving picture resolution drops to around 650 lines?

I'm also going to have to change my settings again. Just went from Movie to Natural and noticed how drab my settings looked compared to that, and how my blacks seemed to have a green tint to them in comparison. Doesn't help when these settings look good enough in daylight, but not at night. Back to the drawing board.
So are you saying you need to input different settings for each mode i.e. Movie, sport, 3D, day viewing, night viewing etc?
