anyone know why the same features/spec isn't transferable to the 52"? i'm guessing some of the features missing are left off the 52" because the panel size dilutes the effect??? or its a panel sourced elsewhere that cannot support them????
The 46'' use a different panel that the rest of the 9000 series.

The full 9000 series is now on the Philips UK website :- Philips - 9000 series

Hopefully not long to wait for them to be out in the shops.

John Lewis is meant to have them within a few days on their shops but I think that only the lower end models at first.

Not true. Both panels are from Sharp with similar spec.

I would guess that difference in spec is either due to cost and/or marketing strategy.

How much is the Platinum going for these days?

And anyone want to hazard a guess at a ballpark figure for the Gold?

9706 (only at 46 this year) has a special anti-reflective coating, marketed as "moth-eye" filter.

Those prices are for the 2011 models. There's bound to be some 2010 models available at discounted prices.

Can't comment on the Gold (or the Patinum really) because my experience was with the 46PFL9705. Have a look at Quaddys thread on the Platinum.

Does anyone know how the input lag on the 9706 is? I'm thinking of returning my VT30 and swap it in with 9706, IF the input lag is low and it works well with gaming.

Anyone?

Apparently AVLand now have them in stock for £2300, anybody want to be brave and step up first?!

Will be interesting to hear how they perform. However who I really want to hear from is someone who had the 9705 and is aware of all it's problems first hand, and could give us a rundown of which problems are still evident. Time will tell...

Personally I think that (after the 9705 "Rave" reviews) most, if not all reviews, are a load of "male spherical reproductive organs" and you need to make your own mind up by viewing, before parting with your cash. I made the mistake of "Trusting" the reviews last year and will not be making the same mistake with this years models.

pricing

Looking online I see the 32pfl9706 selling in Russia for around 35000 rubles or approx £750.00
Why we will be paying so much more; is it to do with taxes or just what Philips thinks the market will stand?

Simply Electricals have the full range on their website with no prices so I suspect stock is on its way to UK

Has Philips released a 32 9706 in Russia? I had the impression that only a 46 inch model will be released as 9706, and the rest screen dimensions will be released as 9606 (that will not have the "moth eye" filter).

LED back lighting

Am I right in that the new range of TVs have edge lit back lighting save the 46in 9706; seems a backwards step to me??

All the 9000 series are full array back lighting, but the 9606 models have fewer "zones" (half the amount used in the 9706)

Checked on the Dutch site
32pfl9606 and 37pfl9606 both edge lit; rest of the 2011 range back lit

Its all a bit strange; looked on the AVland site and they have 32/37 in models listed as 9706 which doesnt exist (should be 9606). The spec on the 37in is also incorrect as it is not backlit but edgelit. I emailed them back and they have replied by saying that in the UK Philips wont be supplying any of the new range below 46inches??confused to say the least

Hi,

It does not looking like the 9 series will be launching with any screen size below 46” in the UK.

Thanks
Sam

So they are releasing only the 46PFL9706 in the UK? Absolute load of rubbish, if they weren't releasing them they wouldn't put them on the UK Philips site, I think AVLand are talking nonsense.

I know and also AVland have them on their site albeit with the wrong model numbers; bizarre!

A big piece of humble pie for me please! . Looks like Philips have removed all the 9000 series tvs below 46" from their site. Wonder why they've decided not to bother with them here in blighty?

It is all very confusing to say the least; Simply Electricals have the full range on their site (no prices mind). No doubt matter will be made clearer in due course
