Thanks, I'd have got there in the end when I checked the specs. I'll need blu-ray access as well, so it looks like the 7209 would be the way to go.

The Broadbandbuyer link is to a legitimate retailer or company. Your link was to an unknown individual, possibly private.

I have just registered but I have been following the discussions on this topic for a while. I would appreciate if anyone of those who contribute to this forum have tried to use an Open Media Wifi Bridge to connect a Panasonic TX-L32G20B to a BT HomeHub LAN.

I am not sure from your comment if you already have one or are thinking about buying one. It should work in the same way as the Edimax but only has one Ethernet port compared to the Edimax at the same price. You will need to set it up on a PC before using it on the TV.

Thank you. I have not bought one yet but am thinking of buying one. I seriously doubt if I will require more than one Ethernet port and would prefer to ensure that the device is not visible. My main aim is to provide connectivity to the TV.

To hark back to one of my original posts regarding the chipset I managed to find this on a netgear forum

WNDA3100v2 - Version 2 of the adapter. Uses the Broadcom BCM4323 chipset.

Now I have also found references to 'Belkin F7D4101 / Broadcom BCM4323' in my googling so it begs the question is the Belkin Play Wireless F7D4101 another alternative device ?

Is there anyone out there with 'Belkin F7D4101' and a Panasonic Viera Cast TV willing to try it and see ?

I have been scouring the web and found this device on ebay: USB Wireless Draft N WiFi Network Adapter+Antenna NEW - eBay (item 290486723398 end time Oct-14-10 12:09:34 PDT) and I would like to know if it will work with my Panasonic TX-L32G20B Viera LCD TV?

@Fenton

Hi Fenton,

I seriously doubt it will work - but if the chipset of the dongle is based on Broadcom BCM4323 then a chance exists it might.

I tried a Zoom Telephonics wireless USB dongle and it didn't.

Thing is I know of no way for us mere operators to update the USB dongle driver included in the firmware of the TV. We are limited to the driver supplied by Panasonic in the firmware. - If we had the ability to install drivers then it would be different and we would be able to use any dongle we wanted in much the same way we can add one to a PC - but then Panasonic would lose the ability to Price Gouge us on the dongles [£79 for the official one, thats just urine extraction ] and restrict our choice of hardware e.g. usb camera for Skype have you seen the price of those .

Come on Panasonic open up the driver installation .

Requiem,

Thank you. I have, however, taken the plunge and will accept the financial pain (only cost £15.65 including p&p). If it works I will let all know.

Netgear WNCE2001 Internet Adapter

Has anyone tried the NetGear WNCE2001 Internet Adapter ( WNCE2001 ) to connect a Panny TX-P42G20B to a wireless network ?

I have now received the Ralinktech RT2770 (see my post # 73) and downloaded the latest software and firmware. I then confirmed that the usb worked on my computer, having configured it to recognise my BTHome Hub and connect to it. I then attached the usb to my Panasonic Viera TX-L32G20B and it failed to recognise the device. I am not dispirited because the usb works more effectively than my Linksys pci wifi adapter and will be used in my desktop pc. However, referring back to Requiem's post # 72 - correct it did not work and I cannot find any additional information to suggest that any usb wifi using the Ralinktech RT2770 chipset will work with a Panasonic Viera lcd tv. Unless someone out there knows better.

Cool Good alternative to Panny dongle

We have a Panasonic TXP42G20B and recently purchased a NETGEAR WNDA3100 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 from broadbandbuyer.com and this works really well with an older Belkin router. Displays all of Viera cast and BBC Iplayer via freesat without a problem. Jon at broadbandbuyer was a great help and was good enough to leave his desk and check this product out for me whilst I was on the phone. Good customer service and a great product. The packaging actually states that this product is suitable for Panasonic TVs. We paid less than £30 including tracked Royal mail delivery and received within three days. Happy days....

One for dorsetboy

Please bear with my lack of technical knowledge but I think dorsetboy has already answered my query.
I have a PannyP42G20B and want to connect to CAST.
My MAC upstairs has a NETGEAR WGT 624 Wireless Cable Router. Are you confirming that I can purchase the same item as you bought and just plug into my TV ?

I am no better qualified than yourself but what I am saying is I plugged this straight into our TV and it found our wireless network in seconds and we had updated the TV software within 10 mins. If you have any other questions broadbandbuyer.com are really helpful and am sure you will buy in confidence from them. Good Luck..

Looking into getting one of these, looking around the online sellers and EBay is confusing me a bit as information is kind of lacking and folks just dont reply on V2 questions.

Is it safe to say that the one we need is the one with the little grey button on the side?

I have not received a reply from broadbandbuyer.com as yet (acknowledgement only) so have also been researching. I believe that a NETGEAR WNDA3100 (as used by Dorsetboy) is the equivalent of the Panasonic Dongle but would like to get the answer from the experts before buying.

How to tell the difference between V1 & V2 WNDA3100

The quickest way to tell a V2 dongle is to look for the led and the WPS (push and connect) button, which is also shown on the outside of the box.

The V1 dongle only has the led light.

Nice one, thats what I deduced in Sherlock Holmes style, just wanted to check.
However, have decided now to bridge 2 modems and hard wire it and the BluRay player instead, cheaper :-)

Hi there,

Can someone confirm that this is the one I need for my pana G20 please?

Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adaptor: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

And that it will work with my Thomson 'G' wireless router even though it is a 'N' dongle?

Thanks

Paul.

I've been going through this subject and would like some sort of confirmation before making the purchase. Amazon are listing two Netgear WNDA3100v2 adapters but in the small print they have a different part number, namely WNDA3100 100GES and 200PES, any ideas which one to go for or are they both compatible. There's also been mention of a certian serial number to go for.
Just to confuse things most of the adverts for this adapter only show the type with a single LED where, as i understand there should a button as well.

Suggestions most welcome

Netgear WNDA3100v2 and Airport

Have been following the thread with interest as they say. Have just purchased a Panasonic TX-L37D25B along with the department store salesman's recommended Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (WNDA3100v2). He assured me that it would work fine with my Apple Macintosh Airport network. This thread however has caused me to wobble. Before I open the Netgear box, can anyone reassure me that it'll be fine on my Mac-based wireless network? The network hub is a 1Tb Macintosh Time Capsule – linked by ethernet cable to a BT Voyager router. There are wireless links to an Airport Extreme and Airport Express and the network standard is IEEE 802.11/n. Airport security set-up is WPA/WPA2 Personal. WDS doesn't seem to appear as an alternative.

i use a edimax EW-7209 wireless access point with a Panasonic TX-L32D28B
There is a single ethernet version EW-7206 I think - I just also have a Humax PVR connected and may have other devices I want to connect - so seemed the best option
