It's impossible to just give you the best settings - they will change depending on the viewing conditions in your room.

Do you have any DVDs or Blu-rays with the THX optimiser on it? Running something like this would be a good place to start. I've seen this on Star Wars and Indiana Jones DVDs (any movie where George Lucas has been involved), as well as some Pixar DVDs.

Hi

As provided by PAINTNOTHING on another thread.
These are the best generic settings I have tried:

Mode: Cinema
Backlight: 3 (higher if brighter environment)
Contrast: 80
Brightness: 50
Colour: 53 (photo mode: 60)
Sharpness: min (no more than 3 for free view)
Colour Temp: warm 2
Noise reduction: off (low for free view)
Mpeg Noise reduction: off
Advanced contrast enhancer: off
Colour space: standard

Let us know what you think

Chris

The THX optimiser is basically a small set of test images/videos (along with descriptions of how to use them) which you can use to calibrate your TV picture settings.

The optimiser is accessible through the standard DVD menu. If any of your DVDs has this on it, you'll normally find it somewhere in the audio/video setup section. Basically, you'll see the big "THX" logo with optimiser written below it. Just use your remote to highlight it and click on it.

If you don't have it on any of your DVDs, try the settings posted below and work from there. Depending on the optimiser (sometimes it varies) it should have test images for contrast, brightness, sharpness & hue/tint - so not all the advanced settings on your TV will be covered by it anyway.

Re: BEST PICTURE SETTINGS for SONY 32" V5500 tv.please HELP

Ok after having a go with review settings of the w5500 ive decided that my eyes prefer a brighter screen.... And after reading a few of the comments on here some seem to feel the same.

I've come up with these after a few days of tweaking, i know myself they're not yet perfect but might be another angle to start from for some.

For Sky through HD box

Backlight 7
Contrast 75
Brightness 51
Colour 50
Colour Temp Warm 1
Sharpness 4
Both noises off
Film mode Auto 4
Black Corrector Off
Contrast Enhancer Off
Gamma +2
Auto Light Limiter Off
Clear White Off
Live Colour Low
Rgain -6
B Bias-1

Xbox360

Backlight 6
Contrast 87
Brightness 51
Colour 57
Colour Neutral
Sharpness 3
Black Corrector Off
Contrast Enhancer Off
Gamma +1
Auto Light Limiter Off
Clear White Off
Live Colour Low
Rgain -6
B Bias-5

I know these are probably far from perfect but they look superb in my "highly lit" room.

Hope this helps some.
