2003.2 is the most up to date firmware for the B650T2P. For the T2W I agree that 2004.1 is the latest, but this does not work on the newer 'P' models.

Thanks, that's interesting. Mine has done the same with both the packaged firmware (1004) and the latest (2003.2).

If you put the files through gspot what pixel aspect ratio are they? If it's 1 then they will play right in my experience, if you're getting success with something other than 1 then I'm very interested to know how!

The inability to correctly play simple Mpeg and even some avi files seems laughable - my mp3 player can do better! I really hope that Samsung will address this (and I have emailed them and detailed it, but they invariably did not reply).

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread *Part 3*

Sorry to jump in here - but can someone tell me if the B651T is virtually the same TV as the B650?

Been reading good reviews on the B650 and if 651 is same I'll get it as I've just seen it in Currys for £499.

Thanks

Stuart.

Yes they have the same specs. I think the 651 has a red tinge round the edge, that's the only difference

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread *Part 3*

Hi...

do you know if there's a chance to sign on to youtube widget (fw 2004)?
It worked on previous firmware versions (before yahoo came), but now I didn't find any option for this.

With the .2004 firmware now I can search youtube, but the virtual keyboard is not that user friendly...

thanks

If not, please someone post settings near D6500/2.2

It may not be exactly ripped off in the U.K as the price i pay is likely to already included these 'free' stuff. Without them i could probably get it for a cheaper price. But till then, yes the dongle and smaler TV comes with the 46b650. And also the next day after purchase, Samsung agents came to my house, drill some holes and put up the TV for me, also no charges.

My advice to buyers of this series and above, try your best to get the dongle together with the purchase because i find it an absolute necessity to connect to the internet.

Dont wanna put peeps off. The set is great apart from this annoying blur. Cant believe Samsung havent addressed this issue with a proper fimware fix.
i was wondering why they had discontinued it too? do you think there are too many problems or what not

I'm amazed that nobody else seems to be reporting this issue.

Actually, quite a few people have raised this, here, in the preceding threads, and in other fora. I just wrote a letter to Samsung so please do the same and we may get something done.

Digital TV recordings are generally in 5:4 format (720:576) - none of these will display correctly without recoding.

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread *Part 3*

I wonder if anyone can help me. After much deliberation I'm going to get a 40" b650 from either costco or richer sounds.

BUT...

I can't figure out where to find this elusive panel type sticker, I know it's on the right hand side of the panel but is it on the box anywhere and is there any chance anyone can post a pic of the sticker so I know what too look for.

I have tried to search but there's soooo many posts it makes it almost impossible.

Thanks loads

Joe

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread *Part 3*

I'm getting my LE40B651 TV today!

after a fast search on the three B650 threads, let me just ask two simple questions:

first. manual states that a 5.1ch hdmi device such as DVD and bluray player only outputs 2 channel audio on the optical spdif connector on the tv. Is that right?!? I have a media center PC with integrated hdmi video and sound card and worked super fine on an old grundig xentia hdready tv. the tv should only pass through the digital stream to the spdif.

second. after several firmware upgrades, does the tv already streams MKV DTS audio to the spidf on the integrated media player?

Thanks.

Nuno

You can't miss the one on the actual TV itself - just look on the right hand side of the unit (near where the USB and HDMI4 ports are) and you'll see the info there. I've heard that can't be relied on entirely though, and the best method is to look through the vents to the panel itself, but I can't find that one personally.

Unfortunately no way of determining from the box itself - you get what you're given! I picked mine up from Costco Reading last Friday and have a SQ panel (well, from the sticker on the unit!).

Yes that is right unfortunately.

I've tried my SkyHD and Samsung BluRay player over HDMI transmitting 5.1 sound and the amp only picks up 2ch from the spdif on the TV. I think the Sky box only outputs on 5.1 over it's optical out anyway, hence the check with the BluRay player too.

Don't know about the second question - not had a play with mkv's (yet).

Questions Questions

Hi I need a new 32" TV for my Bedroom. I had an 3 year old LG 32LC2D which I'm sure was an old model when I bought it. Anyway I digress.

The LG had terrible backlight buzz anything less than 90 on the contrast and HUMMMMMMMMMM, is this still common and do the Samsungs 650 suffer from this (No mention in these thread so I hope not) As I listen to this at quite low volume in the Bedroom?

1080p on a 32" some people say it's overkill, I sit/lie only 2 meters away from the TV and the LG fed with BluRay (from a sony s350) at 720 looked very good indeed will 1080p really look any different at my close distance?

Black Levels, the LG at best looked ok but had bleed and blacks were never really deep, just how much better are these new Samsungs?

24p I obviously watch BluRay at 6ohz at the moment is 24p good do I need 100hz?? I like a lot of fast action movies but not much sports. 24 frames a second never bothered me at the cinema when I used to go.

I'm never buying an LG again the problems I've had with their service has been terrible, 3 times I've had people to come out to look at the backlight buzz and everytime was told it wasn't out of tolerance GRR.

Many thanks for answering my questions.

PS my other feed is Sky+ via RGB scart.

Hi,

I have just bought a Samsung LE37B650 which I'm really pleased with, apart from a problem with dark areas of the picture ’swimming’ when there is fast movement in the frame. It seems as if the picture is not updating quickly enough (particularly noticable with black hair). If it is a handheld shot the effect is magnified. I am watching SD pictures (Sky) via an RGB scart. I assumed this was an upscaling problem, but it has happened occasionally at 1080p from a Blu Ray disc (HDMI connection from PS3). Is there a cure?

If you don't mind me asking, what screen size did you buy and how much did you pay for it?

swimming? Not seen that. Or is it like ghosting? you see a faded image of that said hair when it moves fast? In dark images, ghosting is most visible, so that is perfectly fine. I have personally not seen ghosting on my TV, not even in dark fast moving images. Maybe you can tweak your settings to remove it. For example maybe turning off the dark setting.

Turning off DNR in the advanced settings menu should fix it.

Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread *Part 3*

Just wondering if anyone can vouch for the B650s (32" in particular) in terms of video games? I'm thinking of getting the TV mostly for using my 360/Ps3/Wii with some TV and movies as well; so, how does it do...?
Edit: *looks at above post* oh, that isn't good news

Red face Re: Samsung B650 Owner's Thread *Part 3*

Hello, I just recently purchased samsung b650 with panel sq4
I just curious is this a bad instance of Backlight bleed? Or it's with the limits?
I set my tv to Backlight 0 to take this picture.

Thank you.

A picture can make it look worse, or better than it really is though.
