Re: Sony W4500 Series 100Hz,50.000:1 Dynamic contrast,DLNA
Hi All,
I have had my 40W4500 up and running since Friday evening (not all the time obviously) and it seems to be getting better all the time! Still no sign of clouding or backlight bleed. I am so pleased with this set thatI have ordered one for my son who is setting up his first home. Standard definition is excellent although the freeview picture seems to be slightly better than Sky+.

Re: Sony W4500 Series 100Hz,50.000:1 Dynamic contrast,DLNA
HDTVtest have tested the Sony KDL-40W4500 today
Review
100Hz is the only advantage over the W4000 reviewed in May. Its even worser with the Undefeatable edge enhancement on 1080i/1080p over the sharpness.

Re: Sony W4500 Series 100Hz,50.000:1 Dynamic contrast,DLNA
Hi All
I forgot to ask, how do I setup 1 to 1 Pixel Mapping on my 40W4500?

Seemed to be a sony sample disc with each chapter displaying a different film.
The 30th anniversary trailer of Close encounters of the 3rd kind looked bad, but what really got me was Men in Black. The background noise was... well... loud!
When I pointed it out to oik#1 he said " yeah, that's not good is it? Sony aren't what they used to be!"
As I said; living where I do, I don't get chance to compare a vast array of sets side by side. This set made the plasmas look really really good.
Only problem is, I've jumped the gun a bit, and pre-ordered the sony blu ray player via blockbuster (what a great deal!) So confident was I that I'd be buying the sony LCD.
Now I'm not sure.

but thats the W4500 intention,to add 100Hz over the W4000 mainly.otherwise its the multimedia features and the higher contrast.even only the 100Hz is enough to help the tv look even better

Re: Sony W4500 Series 100Hz,50.000:1 Dynamic contrast,DLNA
Hey all looking into buying this TV. What's the cheapest around for this television?
Plasma and LCD TVs Glasgow Scotland - Robert Whyte Ltd
Cheapest I found was 850 on RGBDirect... but for the extra 30 on Robert Whyte you get 5 year warranty(Not Sony though)
This the best deal so far?
Will the price drop after Christmas also you think?
Thanks... Jay

An old quote......Because a belief is useful does not make it true!
After reading this review I cannot understand how you give a thumbs down. The reviewer is delighted with this LCD and finishes by saying that "Nevertheless these relatively innocuous flaws do not prevent the Sony 40W4500 from being one of the best LCD HDTV's in it's price class"
He thinks it excellent for both SD and HD viewing and also for gaming.
My 52w4500 is coming tomorrow.I won't be able to sleep tonight from all the excitement

Re: Sony W4500 Series 100Hz,50.000:1 Dynamic contrast,DLNA
I've just setup my new system consisting of 52W4500, BDP-350 Blu-Ray and HTSF1300 amp. The sound and picture quality are excellent, but I’ve 1 question, can you remove the time displayed on the screen?

Re: Sony W4500 Series 100Hz,50.000:1 Dynamic contrast,DLNA
Has anyone actually tested the media functions of the DLNA enabled ethernet port?
I know it can do music and photo's but what about video
It's not mentioned in the spec anywhere, but shouldn't it be able to stream video like the Pioneer KRP's?
Very interested in this model if it could do that!

I feel sure you'll be more than happy with the sony blu ray. I was fortunate enough to get one via the Lasky's recent internet "offer" and have to say it produces fabulous pictures on my W4500
I can only assume there was some glitch in the Comet set up with a faulty cable or interference from something close by

Don't be worried. You will be delighted with the quality when you get it home
I really do wonder with the way some of these store set things up if they really want to sell this stuff. I was in Curry's the other day and the variation in PQ among the TVs was huge. Joe public would just assume bad picture=bad set.

It's under Settings/Setup/Screen Settings/Display. You need to have the input on or it is grayed out.

You have to keep pressing display. Once gives all the details. Twice leaves time on. Thrice gets rid.
