Thought it may be worthwhile having a thread to discuss the Dell outlet. I'm sure we have all snagged some great bargains over the years

I'm currently on the lookout for a Studio 1537 and my main requirement is the WUXGA screen. There seems to be a distinct lack of these recently, unless you want a top spec. I'd be happy with 3Gb+ RAM and a moderate hard drive. I just like the higher resolutions

£364 delivered. mine arrives wednesday.... it was at £299 + vat+del when looking..

Id been looking at xps 1330's but couldnt find one with led screen and 8400gs at a decent price..

note sure why mine was so cheap as the nearest one to it was nearly £400 , mine for some reason didnt list wot screen it was, but they confirmed over the phone which one it was guess ill find out in 24 hrs :-)

That's a cracking price, when did you order that? Cheapest 1537 is currently £410! I presume that you ordered before the new £55 discount came into effect as a few comments on HDUK suggested the prices went up considerably once this promotion came into effect.

eeer yes i ordered literally hours before gutted in a way but if id waited the £299 one would have gone and i was watching when about 900 laptops went on so dell obviously had a clear out as i cannot imagine that many failed/returned orders

Massive drop just now of quite basic Studio 1537's. I had one the exact spec of yours for £355 but I still think there could be a chance of more bargains so I have put it back. Anyone get anything interesting?

Ordered yesterday, paid £680 plus about £90 for the extra warranty, £775 in all. Wanted a bigger battery, but there wasnt one available when I ordered (there was one, but someone had already had it)
They were all pretty much the same price, spec wise, except a couple with dodgy paint jobs seemed a little cheaper.

recieved my 1537 today,,,

all i can say is WOW!! brandnew,,,,, :-)

only thing im not sure about is how can i tell if the screen is the LED one??,


it certainly seems brighter than my mates xps1530

unfortunately as i stated previously it was not advertised with the screen specs and its not on any of the documentation

I thought the lower end screens were all LED's on the Studio 1537's whereas the WUXGA screen is the CCFL type?

You can type your service tag into the dell warranty checker website and it will give you the full spec: Dell System Information / Dell Warranty Extensions & Upgrades / Dell Warranty Status

yeh tried that doesnt list the screen ro anything, havent got it connected to internet yet so cant get dell to scan it, also anyone know what bluetooth module goes in these and where it gets fitted,,

To check you screen hardware tag, goto to device manager and check the properties of your monitor. Under the details tab, check the hardware ids.

hmm it says SEC5441 tried a search the best i could find was aguy having the same id for an xps1330 and the part number he said his screen had relates to a samsung WXGA with back lit LED

so looks good but not conclusive,,,hmmmmm

Nice, discount made a nice difference. Roughly the same price as earlier on the Studio 15's so an extra £50 discount on top

Picked myself up two Studio 15's with a half decent spec.

I love Dell Outlet, it's great for a deal. I bought a really good M1530 for £300 less than the equivalent dell.com price for my sister a few months ago. However in the end it turned out she bought herself a laptop while on holiday, thinking I could return mine as laptops are sure to be cheaper in America. Turned out the laptop she bought wasn't as good as the Outlet one I had ordered, but she couldn't return hers to another country, and the Dell laptop wasn't yet delivered and could be returned. I phoned Dell and it turned out they had passed it on to be delivered that day, a week early. The support woman said technically I couldn't return it as I bought it as a business, but said it I just refused delivery when they turned up they would have to refund me. The support staff from Ireland are quite helpful. I would have been in quite a bit of trouble if it wasn't for them.

Just ordered another m1530, this one has the bigger battery, I have not received a confirmation Email yet, will have to see if I get this one.

I got the extra £45 off as well, but they charged me £17 for delivery!

i got mine the afternoon on the 15th before the official £100 came off on the 16th. my customer service rep said it must have been an error but would honour it as it came up [did my screengrabs etc., just in case but she was brill] and didn't pay postage.

How do you get a customer rep, do you know what number you used, if you've got her name, it would be handy

Did she refund you the £17 for delivery onto your Credit card, or did you not pay it at all?
Also, are you saying that we should not have had £100 off, will be intersting to see if they honour everyones order.

Great speck laptop, the screen resolution is right for this size screen; true life means that it is the glossy one not mat. Looks much more realistic but can give a lot of glare if used outside (not many folk us them outside)

I get right throught to the 3rd stage, when you have to enter card details, yet there is still no provision for getting the discount.

I am concerned to enter card details and go to step 4 in case, which seems to be final step, else I could end up paying the full price without having the £100 deducted.

It is free posatge as well?

Can somebody help as there is knowbody at the outlet today and there is a unit I would like to grab. When you phone Dell for help all you get is India, who are no help at all just telling you that the outlet is closed today.

You have to tick the £100 discount box. It's on the first stage (after typing in the verification code) of the ordering process under 'Software & Peripherals'. Just scroll down and tick it.

Delivery was £17 for me.

is that incl vat or + vat, i paid £364 incl vat n del for same system so think either way thats not bad... mine didnt say what display came with it, but it turned up complete!! lol,,, also if your lucky like i was mine was brand new, not a returned one etc,,,

if you want the bluetooth i just got mine from this guy on flea bay hasnt arrived yet, dell do it for £22 but when they get round to sending it,,,

i checked it all out its a doodle to install, couple of screws on the back ,you ll see the blue wire where the empty slot is, slip it in the empty slot screw it down, attached the bluetooth wire your done,

Been watching the outlet all weekend on the lookout for a XPS m1530 a few got listed around lunchtime today so i bagged the following for £428 (inc £100 off) plus vat & delivery so total i paid was £512.
Wasnt bothered about a massive hard drive, 160gig plenty, wanted the bigger battery and better screen which is why i dived in for it, what do you guys think ? good deal or not?!?
