Packard Bell Easy Note Laptop

Continuing my theme of looking for a portable laptop for our little girl (which you will be glad to know will run until christmas) I've come across the Packard Bell Easy Note BG45-U-300 Laptop which has been price cut to £329.99.

It's spec is

Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2390
(1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Basic
1 GB Memory
80 GB Hard Drive
12.1" Widescreen display
Built in webcam
Wireless Enabled

Would this be a much better buy (for the £50.00 extra it is now) than the 10" Advent 4211 ? I've seen both and the build quality of this does seem considerably better than the Advent - it's more of a laptop shrunk down than a webbook.

I've discounted screen sizes smaller than 10" so what are other alternatives in the ~£300 price range.

The bigger screen the better, but also should be under 2kg and must run windows rather than Linux (which personally I like, but she wants to run windows software that she uses at school and that she is familiar with).

Where's it been cut to 329? Ive been tempted by that one.

Worth looking at the samsung NC10 £299 but only 10" screen.

Ahhh that would be telling, they might only have one left !

It's the currys group, certainly currys and dixons. Not sure about PCW, but I went to see it at PCW and was impressed by general build quality over the Advent 4211 .

Do you think it's worth the extra, is it '50 quid better' than the 4211 etc ?

Note : If you buy from Dixons and enter the code 'THIN5' then it is reduced further to £313 - check delivery charges though.

There is also the ADVENT 4401, which is available from currys etc as a refurb for 329.

The Easy Note is £329 at PCW but includes Norton software @ £29, so should be £300 without.

Not sure if they'll let you buy it in shop without (can't remove item Norton via website as it adds it back on when adding to basket even if unticked), but may be worth a try haggling in shop.
