Dell Inspiron Mini 12 with Linux OS, Reviews Needed
I need a small laptop for email, web use and some remote access and that’s about it. I was looking at the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 but the screen is only 8.9 and is a little to small for me. However I have noticed Dell do the Inspiron Mini 12. When checking out reviews on this it is quickly noticeable that running Visa on this sort of laptop is not good. (Sluggish)
As I only need it for basic use I thought I would consider the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 with Linux OS. I goggled this but I am unable to find a review on the Inspiron Mini 12 with the Linux OS, all reviews seem to be with either XP or Vista.
The spec of the Inspiron Mini 12 is as follows
Intel® AtomTM Z520 Processor (1.33GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
Ubuntu Linux 8.04 with custom Dell interface
1GB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
Intel® US15W chipset
Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 500
12.1" WXGA Truelife Display (1280X800)
40GB 4200RPM Hard Drive.
Dell 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini-Card
3-cell 2200AHr Battery
Dell Integrated Bluetooth Wireless card
Has anyone bought the Mini 12 and using the Linux OS? If so please would you be so kind as to give me your own personal review on it.
I have never used Linux before but after reading a PC magazine that had a dedicated issue to Linux I thought it would be good to give it a try.
Thanks
