acer aspire one

bought the acer aspire one 150 yesterday for daughters christmas. it has 1gb ram and 120gb hard drive and linux. looking on the acer website it has the xp version which seems to have exactly the same hardware. could i replace the operating system with xp disc using a portable cd drive or is it just not as simple as that.

Yes,

just use an external CD/DVD, if you have one, and boot off that with your standard install disk. No problems. A straight forward XP installation.

If you don't have the external drive you will need to prepare a usb installation disk thingy, so then you will need more detailed instructions.

Re: acer aspire one

I've recently installed XP from a USB stick onto an MSI Wind.

The install process isn't for the complete newbie but it worked fine after I'd switched AHCI off in the BIOS - with AHCI on the XP install wouldn't see the hard drive, even though it was XP SP3 installation cd.

Easiest option is definately an external CD/DVD drive.
