graphics online - drawing distance. . .

hey guys.

Basically iv been playing this online and loving it and it looks great as expected but last night, mainly on the desert map (pyhrrus rise?) there seemed to be alot of drawing distance issues.

Basically it was items popping up randomly, i was sniping and saw the red glow in a distance, so i zoomed in and suddenly the helghan vanished behind a wall. So i zoomed out again and saw him again so zoomed in and again the wall rendered and he was hidden. This happened a few times right around the map when i was sniping from distance.

Also noticed when running through the map things would suddenly just render infront of you .

I have never noticed this previously, and when i first played the game i remember looking at the map and saying to my mate how good the drawing distance etc was. But last night it seemed quite bad.
Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this?

Might have been a bit of lag, I had 2 games with lag and players seem to teleport without warning. As for draw distances, I've been sniping diagonally across the desert map and never had problems with parts of the map popping up.

Probably just some lag

Re: graphics online - drawing distance. . .

I've had something similar in MP - I can spot the blue / red glow of any enemy in the distance, but when I zoom in on them a wall suddenly appear that they're hiding behind...

Re: graphics online - drawing distance. . .

I have noticed in MP that sometimes I'll see a shadow pop in, and it happened last night in one of the maps where a stairway in one of the buildings casts a large shadow across the wall (can't remember the map). I don't know if the game caches any information but I don't remember it happening again even though I entered the room the same way umpteen times afterwards.

Yea thats exactly what i got . Then i noticed i few things like electricity cables suddenly popping up and then fading as i got further away . As i say this is the first time i noticed it and put a bit of a damper on the graphical experience. Hopefully it was a one off

Re: graphics online - drawing distance. . .

Given the size of the maps (it's a sniper's paradise) I'm not suprised by some draw distance creeping in - it was draw distance in the SP in Killzone 1 that was my major gripe - I just put it down to Guerilla being too ambitious for their own good.

Given the detail that's gone into these maps though, I'll forgive them, they all seem to be well thought out and highly detailed no matter where you look at them from.

Dan do you seriously need to start a make believe thread just so you can have an excuse for when I kill you.

"Nah I couldn't see there Jay coz of all the pop in and draw distance"

Cheeky 95% of games i play are usually medic or engineer and do pretty well

Trying other classes is nice though varies it a bit.
