| Thoughts from an impartial FPS fan
Before I start, I have no agenda. I don't favour the PS3 over the 360 (I have both). There are only games I like, and games I don't.
Having never owned a PS2, the whole Killzone hype passed me by first time round. And when this new game was getting close to release, I was neutral. I knew the Sony crowd were going mental about the game, but had no preconceptions. But I bought the game as I had nothing else to play….and I am utterly baffled about why everyone is losing their minds over this.
I find the gameplay so dull. I love FPS (current favourites being Resistance/COD/Bioshock), but after about 3-4 hours of playing this, the clunky controls, the endless deaths, the imprecise aiming….I'm getting a bit bored of it. What should be an immersive compelling experience is in fact plain irritating. I don't what it is about the game that I don't like, I think it's that I don't feel like I'm in full control of the character - the amount of times I've tried to track an enemy so I can shoot them and just not been able to aim, it is driving me mad.
It seems like they have tried to make a mix of COD style frantic gameplay and GOW style tactical cover/shoot system, but not really nailed either of the styles. I just wondered if this was just me, anyone else got any thoughts? Does it get better? Am I using the wrong control set up?
