Killzone 2 - Online play

Wondering if this was a useful thread for specific KZ2 online gaming questions and queeries, or in other words can some one explain the principles of the perks system for KZ2 for me? ie at what piont do you get other weapons? are weapons attached to charachter class? how/when are they unlocked?

looks lik it will take me quite some time to get anywhere compared to COD4 progress pace

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

Flame me if you want but my initial feelings are of pure frustration. No one can hear what anyone else is saying in lobbys and in game.......its infuriating !!! Getting more then 1 kill per round makes me feel like the biggest muppet ever yet I know I can hold my own in pretty much any game. I realise this is not COD but seriously........how slow and un repsonsive is this game !!!! I am going to be giving it all weekend and most of next week to try sway me but right now I think the game is massive disappointment

Maps - Amazing !!
Visuals - Amazing !!
Sound - Amazing !!
Gameplay - slow
Controls - a chore
voice chat - shocking
enjoyment factor - nothing outside of awful

Doesnt help that the headset hurts after 15 mins use

I really like the slow pace, mainly because it allows people to bring tactic's into the game.

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

I think the pace is really hectic at times. Sprinting around corners, all action craziness on some of the close quarters maps. I adore the wide open desert one, the weapons are so beautifully accurate once you line up your shot.

I'm already a captain and heard a few people moaning when I introduced the rocket launcher against some AVF members. Even though it caused about six suicides and three kills in total. The sight of it must of just frightened them because its a bitch to aim and fire it off quickly enough on a moving target.

So far its exceeded my expectations I'm really impressed that is has such a unique style and not another clone of everything else. It's going to be a joy to ever master this game. For those who can't yet see the appeal I couldn't care less to be honest.

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

I was laughing when kept getting called names, made it even more difficult to handle the weapon.

All the badge abilities are covered in the recent Gametrailers videos. Now I know about the spawn points and tacticians.

I just love saying "noob tube". Not sure why, possibly as it sounds rude.

Although I do agree with you about the gameplay, not being able to hear people properly is a PSN issue not a KZ2 issue IMO. Partially becuase everyone uses different hardware - much designed for telephone use, not console gaming, means that no PS3 games that I have played have had anything like useable comms like you see on PC and XBOX LIVE.

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

Lol ! The girlfriend said I had the right hump when I came to bed last night.....moaning about Killzone ! TBH coming home tipsy on a friday and stumbling online is a bit of a tradition so not being able to just pick up the controller and jump into an AVF game was a disappointment. I will be giving the game a proper chance this weekend as apposed to playing it for an hour and then ranting on here

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

Only played for an hour on-line so far and apart from the initial confusion, its flippin amaazing!

I agree about the voice chat though, but perhaps a patch or a look at my settings will change that.

KILLZONE.COM, is very slow but has improved whilst our American cousins sleep!

The overview of your battles is quite amazing and was actually a revelation to me Did'nt know it was THAT detailed

Perhaps when I get more hours in my opinion will change, but I dont think so!

To be honest, I have to agree with you on the comms. Its nice what they have done, but they haven't gone that extra mile and allowed what I feel are necessary features. Like you said, in the lobby, its just a free for all and the only person heard is the one who speaks loudest.

The ingame comms should have to option to be private. I don't want to hear the comms of other people outside the squad who just happen to be in earshot (this includes in the lobbies too), and I also feel the comms groups should be seperate to the squads. Last night for example, a bunch of AVF Crap Clanner's decided to host a public game to get the numbers up a little, in one of the games there were 5 of us on the ISA team, but the squad grouping only allowed 4 of us to talk together leaving one out of the chat group.

Also, the lack of a free-4-all straight deathmatch is a missed opportunity. However, these are minor niggles that can be sorted with a patch, as I'm thoroughly enjoying the game on and offline.

Great points Dean. Why O why can we not start a squad and then take that online and remain in that squad ala COD4. I totally appreciate that with 32 odd people in a Lobby the comms are going to be hit and miss but unless you get a chance to create that squad before the game starts you are stuck with proximity chat.

Look I put my hands up and admit I haven't read the manual yet or even played it sober so this weekend I will try get stuck in and see if I can work out all the nuances & quirks of the game. I'm gonna put a post in the Crap Clan thread and see if I can get a few peeps together to muddle through it today.

Can anyone tell me how the game is scored in multi-player in regards to kills. There are four columns what do they mean?

This explains them muffins:

Edit: If the sites down (again!) they are basically, left to right: deaths, penalty points, mission points, kills, total points.

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

I love the online in this game.

Looking so nice, i expected some slow down, but there is none!!

even when its displaying a load of other players!

Can be slow online, but I like that. And it can be very hectic as well!

Re: Killzone 2 - Online play

What I don't understand is why I should have to play against players who are wielding LMGs, sniper rifles and shotguns when all I can have is the crappy assault rifle. This is after choosing to only find games containing my rank.

So not only do I play against more experienced players who know the maps but they also have better weapons.

Sounds fair.

Sounds fair.
Couldn't agree more this game online is totally unbalanced. Also why they didn't let us select whatever class you want from the start Medic, Sniper etc instead of this tedious unlock system is beyond me. After trying for over 8 hours to get into the multiplayer I've finally given up

Will finish off the singleplayer then it's time to offload the game.

Its a good point Steve.

There was just as much frustration in COD4 when trying to find your way for the first few times. The more you play the more the game opens up for you and its no different in KZ2. The SMG for example struck me as a better gun for firing from the hip, its unlocked once you are promoted from Seargent. Before you know it you are getting bigger killcounts on the smaller tighter maps.

Stick with it boys. I reckon a week of regular online play is only fair for a game such as this.

Not being funny, nor do I think I am extra special at FPS, but I have played the online and have been shooting really well with the rifle. It is not that crappy really, and is very accurate. I usually end up in the top 5 per game.

Plus most people I have seen are running around with the rifles, only once did I get to pick up a shotgun.
