Killzone 2 - Preview Thread

In regards to marketing/advertising,sony should market this game as much as possible to reach new punters.You only have to go through this thread and count how many members have decided to go for KZ2 based on footage/reviews which is a kind of advertising and members opinions of the game.I would be very happy to see some of the cinema cutscenes combined with gameplay in a 2 minute ad every evening on tv starting a day before release.

Don't know if this has been asked/answered,
are the controls the same as CoD4 or are they user definable?

Looks like I'll need to play some games of Cod4 again to hone my skills for the killing fields

Your probably better of just adding people yourself.

They need to be as well. I'm sure I read somewhere yesterday that the default 'manual aim' button is R3 !!! Was in OPM, they said you'd need to switch it to L1 like all other shooters.

Killzone 2 is a novelty for me. I say this because it will be my first PS3 game, which means the 360 will get a bit of a rest, and I don't have any preconceptions about the game itself, I don't even know the back story from the other games, so in theory it should blow me away from what I've seen online and as an FPS fan.

I think Im more or less in the same boat as you, only that it wont be my first PS3 game, but after selling or trading in all the others it will be my only PS3 game!

I have just became even more excited for this after watching that vid

I mean i knew this was going to be great, knew the graphics would be superb but i did worry online might not be as good as cracked up, and i have not read/watched loads of vids on KZ2 because i didnt want to be 'over hyped' and let down, also i didnt want to know everything about the game, wanting some thing to be a surprise. But so many little things i loved about that video.

Graphics superb, simply brilliant.
Atmosphere in level design looks great, the engineer seems very cool, and when that guy ran into the turret's bullets and actually fell back like he was going to die from his wounds then the guy blasted him with the shotgun

Animation was just brilliant.

Really cant wait!

Think a holiday might be put in for 27th feb... anyone else joining me

Broken there not 5 .1's the X4's are but there like £130 quid.

The official one seems to be out of stock everywhere, Ive seen some others about including the usb logitech vantage which is also tempting.

Can any one point me to some information about leveling up? I see you can get "points" which unlock some stuff at particular classes but the levelling up seems shallow compared to games like COD and Rainbow Six Vegas.

So whats is the XP? Levels for ranking? Do you get to setup several different classes to store so you can switch between a few quickly?

It'll only matter if we play with "total" randoms or the "serious" guys from the forum.

If not we can do the old "360 for comms"

I mean can you talk to the rest of your team like you can in Gears, or do you have to have a squad system like in frontlines?

is there some indcator to show you that you have made a kill..as with cod points show up in front of you.

Apparently the person you killed body shows bullets hitting it and then he falls to the floor

I've seen on the videos that it shows you on the left handside who has killed who and with what weapon. Can't say I've noticed anything like "+10" being shown though.

I would guess so. I know a few of the lads have been on the Beta so hopefully they'll shed some light on this. Ridge? anybody else?

In the second picture you have the No.2 which is the position you in the match. Next to that is the number of points you've earned in the match. That number will just increase when you score. There's no +10 flashing up on your screen

I'm sure I've heard a high pitched beepy sound on a kill on the mp videos I've seen, similar to the headshot sound in cod.

Yep I'm used to looking at the +10's rather than the other ticker. It's kinda bad for my tv though, the +10's are always on the screen, I'm worried about image burn.

Maybe just the picture, but looks kinda hard to read the name. The KILL is pretty clear though
