Give killzone 2 another chance

So, after all the updates there may be some PS3 users that didnt like KZ2 at the start. I was one of them.

However various updates and tweeks plus downloaded levels have the made the game really good on line now.

Set the controlls to alternate 2, use the precison aming mode, and give it another go !

Yep, doing what you described basically turns it into Call of Killzone.

Re: Give killzone 2 another chance

I have just gone back to Killzone 2 - it is a wonderful game.

My kids prefer Resistance 2, but that is a lot more "lite" and less intense

The online element of KZ2 is good - esp if you add on the DLC maps

Re: Give killzone 2 another chance

I wish they'd tweak the spawn grenade invunrability a bit more again. It was too forgiving at first, now too punishing.

Other than that, I think its the best FPS multiplayer you can get on the PS3.

What's the deal with the controls?

I know that when I played the original demo I just didn't like the 'feel' of the movement and aiming but by the time I bought the game it had already got a couple of updates and I didn't have an issue at all just using the default controls.

Is it worth trying alternate schemes or tweaking them?

(Really appreciating how good the SP is after the rubbish that is MW2)

Yeah, the controls are very similar which is a boon as I've just finished MW2 (yes, the SP really is short) and didn't fancy getting used to different controls.

Having decided to go back to KZ2 immediately after being dissappointed by MW2, I have to say, Killzone 2 simply blows away Modern Warfare 2 in most areas.

The KZ2 graphics really show up the limitations of the MW2 engine but it's the gameplay that is just so much more satisfying, especially the ability to use cover properly. To me it seemed that MW2 was built around the ability to snap-lock onto targets with L1 with less emphasis placed on aiming skills. And not being able to use cover properly was just unforgivable in a modern game. Oh yeah, that stupid, overdone, vision-blocking blood effect that you get when you are hit just makes it a luck-fest when the bullets are flying.

The real area where MW2 scores is in the creation of a sense of atmosphere based on the image of the Western military in the media. However, they even took that too far with a ludicrously OTT plotline.

I completely agree. It's just a shame that all AVFs FPS players went back to friggin' COD4 after a month.

I saw this for 9 quid in blockbsuter as their special deal.

I was tempted to pick this up after loving killzone online.

I'm also dissappointed by mw2 and got rid of it today.

Do many play killzone online, and what changes have they made exactly, as I never had a problem with controls etc in the first place?

I've just given it another try and the controls are still shockingly awful in my opinion. I've got it set the same as the COD controls but the sensitivity is awful no matter how many times i've tried to adjust it. In COD you can move your gun quickly left to right but it slows the sensitivity when aiming, It doesn't appear to do this in Killzone so by the time i've aimed at someone he's hidden behind something. I just can't get on with it.

its a fantastic game and still teh best FPS looker on any console. For £9 I dont think you can bitch tbh. Controls are a personal thing. Ive never had an issue with them, select type 2 and precision for COD style controls.

Cod cheats in this sense, as it has a little bit of auto aim even on multi player.

Been thinking about doing this on line again.

Suppose I loved the game, but disliked on-line. So its time to try again with the suggested set up

I know, i know - but with Uncharted 1, COD4, then UC2 followed by MW2 (with a bit of assasins creed, RE5 & FN4 thrown in) i haven't had the time

I'll get around to it - not buying any other games until i have finished the ones i have - includes Assasins Creed, Killzone, GTA4, LBP, Motorstorm PR, Burnout - so that will be a couple of years then

Hi Steve

Felt the same really and felt the same frustrations coming through.

I will keep at it though because I feel there is a good game in there somewhere.

Still feels clunky and slow with somtimes confusing objectives IMO.

The control layout is helped by using the COD style buttons, but I feel that the need to "keep at it" may put off some prospective "returnees".

We shall see......
