Has anyone with O2 broadband been having problems with the O2 DNS server or do they know anyone whos been having problems with the O2 DNS server.

I've been having problems over the last 36 hours or so with the O2 DNS server and I am on the computer at my job.

I've been having problems with the o2 DNS for the last week or so as i was just getting a load of page time outs and the PS3 and Xbox wouldn't connect with DNS problems.

Anyway i changed to openDNS and all is well again.

Mine's fine although I did have problems when trying to use my Netgear router.

Switched back to the O2 box and all is well again - blazing fast and no dropouts at all

It's quite strange as from what i can work out you get assigned different DNS server depending on what ip address range you are on and the ip address changes according to the MAC address of the router so as for you changing router would mean you got a better ip addredd so asigned the better DNS servers.

So would you recommend me trying the O2 box and seeing if that cures the O2 DNS problem?

I found that if i used the O2 DNS servers from my Netgear router without spoofing the MAC address of my O2 router then i had lots of DNS issues and timeouts.

As soon as i changed the MAC address of my Netgear router to that of the supplied O2 router then the DNS problems disappeared.

I am with o2 and use my own Netgear router. As Uridium I have set the MAC address from my o2 box to the Netgear and have not had any problems (so far ).

Gone back to the o2 DNS for the first time in a week and the problems seem to have gone for me now

Nope, tried that and still had problems!

O2 box seems to work well with all my gear so at the moment I'm happy to stick with it..

I'm using BT DNS servers at the moment.

If you are happy with the o2 box then I see no reason to swap it out for something else. I just kept my Netgear router as I already had several wireless devices setup on it. But if it dies I will just use the o2 box rather than buy another router.

If you do want to use a Netgear (or whatever make) router with o2 then do a search on here as I have posted all the settings required to get it working.

I solved the DNS problem by changing the my router to the o2 router, so far so good I had no problems. I've had no disconnections and seem to be getting good speeds with the O2 router.

I had issues with Be/O2 DNS servers using the BE Box. Did a search on the BE forum. A few people there suggested switching to OpenDNS.

Primary DNS is 208.67.222.222.
Secondary DNS is 208.67.220.220.
